I worked at canfield scientific full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The pros of working at Canfield Scientific. Well, I will say they have some great people who work there and the benefits package is good.

    Cons

The main con in my experience was my manager. When you take a position, you hope to grow and show all the potential you can bring to the company. However, I found I was limited as to what I could do. I wanted to expand on my knowledge and skills from prior positions I held and couldn’t because of the restriction. I felt I had to ask “permission” for everything I did (including stamping a letter which “I couldn’t do” -...

    Advice to Management

My only advice is to the President. Culture and atmosphere are extremely important in the workplace. It motivates employees and keeps the employees who are dedicated to their positions within the company. The value is there and I believe in the mission... however my former manager needs major training. I am not sure what her college degree is in, but management was not a studied subject for her. Other reviews indicate...

I worked at canfield scientific full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Get to travel the world and a management title to move into pharma

    Cons

Worst place I have ever worked. Terrible work life balance. Management is terrible and will use you as a pawn to make them look better when it works for them. Run far away and don’t waste your time working here.

    Advice to Management

    Do some actual management

I worked at canfield scientific full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - I've met some amazing people at this company who I now call friends. - You do learn at the job...especially when little to no training is provided. - You get to make a little extra $$$ on the side doing their validations (makes up for the inability to negotiate your salary when you’re first hired). - You do get to play with some pretty neat tech. - Did I mention the amazing people you'll meet?!?!

    Cons

Before you read my CONS...make sure you read the rest of the reviews. You'll notice a certain pattern going on. MANAGEMENT (or lack thereof) For some, when you think of a manager, you think of someone who is innovative, a person who empowers, a person who doesn’t need to get involved in every aspect of the day-to-day tasks because they have...well...you know..a good team. Well...that’s not the case here. There...

    Advice to Management

The company needs a COMPLETE overhaul of their archaic upper management. They’ve been with the company and within their positions for too long. If they made any attempt to be innovative or tried to improve on how processes are executed then that would be one thing but I’m incredibly amazed by how anything gets done, with the WAY things are done, there. Also, the CEO NEEDS to have conversations with his employees during...

I have been working at canfield scientific

      Pros

Meaningful work Team oriented environment Family friendly Good management from top down Good pay Great benefits (Medical/dental/vision/PTO, 401k) Nice Christmas party

      Cons

      No cons warranting focus here.

      Advice to Management

Some of the poor reviews I’ve read are baffling. Yes, the company has some improvements that could be made, but rather than voice these concerns to the appropriate personnel, people instead seek to bad mouth an otherwise great company for what seems to be, in several instances, lack of personal input. Initial training could be better. However, the relevant information/documentation is available for all employees to access....

      Pros

Working with intelligent and passionate people everyday. From the first interview to now everyone has been very helpful and supportive. The managers provide direction when needed and feedback, both constructively and positively. This really is a great place to work!

      Cons

Benefits do not start immediately upon starting.

I have been working at canfield scientific full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

It pays the bills while gaining experience I need to get a better job!

      Cons

The entire management. Lack of people skills, lack of proper training and when asking for more training they label you a complainer! Most supervisors and managers got where they are at because they brown nose and help each other move up the ladder while throwing the teams under the bus to cover their butts!

      Advice to Management

      1) Learn to speak to your employees better 2) If your smart you would train employees new and current better so they are better equipped to do their job. 3) appreciate that talent and skills of each employee especially the ones who do work, work hard and are passionate about what they do. 4) When issues are brought up you should not take it as a negative or complaining but rather trying to make the work and culture better...

I worked at canfield scientific full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Interesting products and services, great collaboration among non-management employees, talented technical employees

      Cons

Respect for an employee, his/her knowledge, or any sort of life-work balance is completely non-existent. It is unfortunate, as the business niche is fascinating, but anyone who offers input based on experience or simple observation is considered arrogant and conceited. Instead, upper management of this very horizontal company considers itself to be knowledgeable on everything, even if they have had zero experience in...

      Advice to Management

Learn from the talent that you bring into the company, and learn how to hire talent. There is a reason that most of the talent does not stay - and it unfortunately all dribbles down from the top. Leading by example is not always positive. Learn how to manage - everyone from the president to any and all people who have direct reports should be enrolled into a management class. And, just because you "like" someone, does...
