I have been working at darice full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Appreciated for hard work, on site cafeteria, fun company events - picnics/free ice cream/Indians tickets raffles, ways to earn more $$ if you put in the effort, open communication on changes in the company or procedures, great place to work whether you have warehouse exp or not.

    Cons

Overtime can be tiring but it's worth it for the money!

    Advice to Management

Continue to appreciate employees in different ways and continue the fun events!

I worked at darice full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Lots of hours, cafeteria for food. Pay wasn't too bad for a warehouse job. Lots of overtime opportunities as well

    Cons

Poor management . Lots of "clicks". The pace of work is constant and most the time overwhelming without enough help

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees like humans , and understand how grueling the work can be

I worked at darice full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Nice facility located in Strongsville, Ohio. The work is not that hard unless you unload the trucks. Very clean and well maintained with decent lunch area.

    Cons

Avoid working third shift the turnover rate is horrendous. If you last more than 6 months your very lucky. The company needs better shift supervisors.

    Advice to Management

    Treat your workers better.

I have been working at darice full-time

    Pros

    - Relatively relaxed atmosphere
    - On-site kitchen with chefs.
    - Ability to have control of projects and tell upper management what to do in regards to IT related tasks.
    - Never have to stay late. (They don't want to pay overtime.)
    - Touch a ton of different technologies.
    - Perks such as free meals after quarterly meetings and giveaways.
    - There are a few parks nearby that are nice to go to in the summer.
    - Paid phone and home internet.
    - Good for entry level but once you gain experience leave for better pay.
    - Fired some upper level staff.

    Cons

    - Low pay. Nearly $10k lower that average.
    - Keep piling more responsibilities on with out any compensation increase.
    - No back-up staff. So too bad if the network guy is out for the day. If you have a networking issues your out of luck.
    - Some developers and IT staff are afraid to look to the future and argue over moving to new Operating Systems.
    - Have to still wear a collared shirt. (Jeans are finally acceptable though.)
    - After being bought out everyone is in meetings constantly which increases turn time.
    - People in the company have the expectation that everything will get done instantly and their request is critical regardless of how truly urgent it is.
    - Ticketing system is in place but more often than not people just walk in or call.
    - Do not have the tools to succeed and the company will not purchase them for you. Common enterprise tools such as SCCM are simply pushed aside due to cost and administrators are stuck figuring out how to write scripts to get around things.
    - No training really offered unless you push for it for a few months.
    - Many commonly automated tasks are manual here due to lack of tools.
    - Help desk is involved in next to everything. Always gets stuck with the tasks that everyone else does not want to do or put the time into.
    - Company is not with the times and does not provide incentives that places such as hyland, google, amazon, and other companies provide.
    - Craft industry is on a downhill decline.

    Advice to Management

    - As responsibilities increase you must also increase compensation.
    - You will lose all your staff to better paying jobs if you do not get with the market.
    - Hire more staff.
    - Purchase needed tools.
    - Provide training.

I have been working at darice full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent benefits, almost never forced to leave early. Most Saturdays in the summer have optional overtime

    Cons

Low pay ($10.80 starting), zero motivation to work hard - 30 cent raises each year no matter what. Performance-based raises are very rare and based on how much the boss likes you. No opportunities to get into an office job unless you have a degree or lots of experience.

I have been working at darice full-time

    Pros

Good company to work for if you are willing to do what is asked of you. You will advance and make more money if you are willing to work.

    Cons

Very monotonous work but it's easy work and all expectations can easily be double.

    Advice to Management

HR needs to be revamp. All shifts should be held to the same standards.

    I worked at darice full-time

    Pros

Great place to work! They really go out of there way to make employees feel wanted. I recommend this company highly.

    Cons

Like any family business you can only go so far unless you have the correct last name. I don't fault them as I would do the same if it was my family business.

    Advice to Management

Well they sold to Michaels so I really can't give the advice I normally would since I haven't been there since the sale of the company.

I worked at darice full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Always kept people employed no lay offs ever. Family day is a good thing for employees and overtime. Discount at stores and awesome family members.

    Cons

Unpredictable and unprofessional manager's in warehouse and Office especially in IT. The lead on the help desk. Language and tone of voice is not a way to talk to an employee and front of their peers. It's a shame they have got away with that for so long and many good employees have left do to the unprofessional management. Do yourself a favor Michael's take a look at what old stale unprofessional management that's in place now and clean up soon as possible.

    Advice to Management

Overhaul HR across the board and management in office area and some in warehouse.

I worked at darice full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Company covers most healthcare costs. Easy to get trained on machines and advance if you work hard.

    Cons

Warehouse is super hot in summer. Yearly "performance" reviews and raises are almost always 30 cents no matter how much or little you work.
