    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at dd's DISCOUNTS part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    They work around your schedule.

    Cons

The hours you get are horrible, sometimes 4-6 hours a week while they keep hiring temps and giving them more hours. Don't plan to make it a career here, you'll stare to death. During holidays you have 50+ people waiting up to an hour to pay and only two registers open. District office doesn't approve to give more hours for more employees during holiday season to help clean the store. MOD's run around trying to cover every department. Looks like hurricane Irma went through the store. Two registers open and one sales floor employee at night, impossible to comprehend.

    Advice to Management

To store management, hang in there. To senior management, quit and let others run the stores properly.

    I worked at dd's DISCOUNTS full-time

    Pros

Great support from upper level management, hours are reasonable, job description is clear, and great sick pay and vacation hours.

    Cons

Being stretched too thin at times, payroll budgets are next to impossible for employees to live off of which often leads to frustrated staff members.

    Pros

Front end oriented, structured and small stores make for an adequate first job environment. It is easy to build a family type bond with your co-workers.

    Cons

Policy is always changing which makes it difficult for everyone to be on the same page. Store managers are poorly chosen and often times assistant managers end up cleaning up the messes left by higher ups. The process for stockroom is also messy and poorly monitored. There is too much emphasis on getting work done quickly rather than correctly. Most of the time, a cashier can expect to be bombarded with the demand to keep their area clean and go through all procedures while also being a quick server. It gets overwhelming fairly quickly.

    Advice to Management

Always have two cashiers operating the front end, unless there is down time in which cashiers should stay near the Front End. Avoid letting management stay in the office, often times they are the only ones who can provide clearance for certain discounts or vouchers. Train the employees thoroughly and avoid delegating stock room tasks to non-stock room employees.
