I worked at dressbarn (Less than a year)

    Pros

Awesome sales staff and informs you of sales goals and how to keep up with inventory well. I was excited to learn about the new seasonal clothes and they have really good employee discounts on clothes!

    Cons

Have to have patience with this job when it comes to the people who you are selling to. Sometimes people need help with what they are wearing and you have to understand that.

    Advice to Management

    You guys are doing great!

I worked at dressbarn part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

great discount, flexible hours, quality clothes, friendly customers, team oriented atmosphere

    Cons

management doesn't have enough support from corporate, management shares too much personal information with other employees, there are only 2 registers and customers can get irritable if the lines are long, management sometimes takes unpacking new shipment or setting up displays as priority over customers.

    Advice to Management

Ensure ALL customers come first and that ALL customers are being helped; don't spend too much time on one customer to the detriment of other customers. Don't share so much of your personal life details with your employees, don't talk about employees with other employees

I worked at dressbarn part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Excellent employee discount
    Nice co-workers
    Good sales training

    Cons

Very low pay from first level clerk through Assistant Manager who earns between $12 and 13.50/ hour.
    Very few full-time positions available.

    Advice to Management

I recommend a better incentive program for your employees. If they can't work for a living wage, create other ways to earn short-term bonuses and proper recognition. Turnover costs money.

I have been working at dressbarn full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good ideals in company culture. Most stores have a supportive and close knit team, with unwritten kindnesses done. Most are team players and support each others scheduling conflicts. Most work together on events and other team generated actions.

    Cons

Most management while having the best intentions is not equipped to teach new managers. Corporate takes no responsibility either and then later expects employee to have found and implemented written tools for accomplishing what sometimes can only be passed on from a leader. This lack of engagement puts unnecessary stress into the learning process and slows it down. Also too much is required of store leaders, and corporate keeps adding more responsibilities. DL's can be distant, some incompetant and seem to have little or no accountability.

    Advice to Management

Be an excellent listener, and follow with actions. Pitch in, be part of the team, and get better numbers by cultivating a team atmosphere and shopping community. Improve numbers by encouraging individuals and remembering that you once had to learn too. Be compassionate by being fair.

I have been working at dressbarn part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Decent pay
    Easy work
    Family atmosphere
    Easy to get the job
    Lots of hours
Sense of responsibility given to employees

    Cons

Managers could not keep the store fully stocked of employees.
Managers schedule associates to work hours that they aren't available.
Corporate expects floor sets to be complete and attention to customers at the same time with not enough hours given to the stores to keep the floor covered.
Stores are not making enough and job security is beginning to become a concern.

    Advice to Management

Allow the stores to have extra employees on the floor, and make sure the stores have enough workers so that employees don't burn out.

I have been working at dressbarn part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Amazing store manager, flexible hours, management is great, always trying to work as a team, and system of learning/training is great! $8.50 as a starting pay.

    Cons

Bratty customers(suburbia clothing store)! Always want you to hand them something along that always wanting coupons all the time! How can you help someone who is so picky and unhappy with themselves?
Dressbarn is a team effort store so if the staff doesn't put their weight, you will drown in stress!
The Power of Three more like the Power of Your Prices Are Too High! They want to sell three items of more of clothing according to the new CEO.
They only care about numbers now.
Always try to make an amount at the end of the day even if it is impossible.
    Another greedy company.

    Advice to Management

Pick someone who will pull their weight as a manager. A store manager who can properly teach the new staff not having an assistance store manager.
