I have been working at dressbarn full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Family environment, recognition, bonus available if your store performs, hourly instead of salary. Hours are manageable and the company pushes for a positive work life balance with average vacation time.

    Cons

Not enough payroll, not nearly as competitive salary I was hoping for, new insurance (2018) has a new deductible for even the highest coverage choice.

    Advice to Management

Competitive salary would encourage not only me, but my peers to not look at every opportunity that comes up.

I worked at dressbarn (Less than a year)

    Pros

Working with the public, helping women find that right item for that special occasion, or just helping them find something that makes them feel awesome

    Cons

The company is going through some really hard times. Stocks have fallen from $22 a share to $2 a share (Ascena Retail Group Inc NASDAQ: ASNA - Nov 28, 10:17 AM EST) this has caused the company to do away with many full time positions and hire mainly part time people. The cost of the clothing has gone up while the quality has gone down causing it be a struggle to meet the hourly sales goals (which are not on on par with the area of your store)

    Advice to Management

Hire people who represent your brand both in and outside the store. Allow those who know their business to set up the goals (reasonable but with a bit of stretch.)

    Pros

Dressbarn is all about inspiring women to look and feel their best, so naturally almost every company employee you meet or work with is friendly and fun. The company rewards hard work and is constantly educating employees on all levels.

    Cons

Unfortunately, the company name often has a negative connotation as people often think it is just for older women. Dressbarn is changing a lot by offering more trendy clothing, but they lack in the marketing department, making it hard to attract new and younger customers.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the positive attitude!

I have been working at dressbarn part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It’s a fun place where you can explore how your personality can inspire women to look and feel beautiful through sales. The management is very fun and you feel like you’re apart of a team and family when you work.

    Cons

Sometimes it can be hard to keep your hours down when you’re part time with the company. There’s not much growth in the company either.

I have been working at dressbarn full-time

    Pros

Some of the best, women and men I’ve ever met , the work/life balance and the mission to inspire women.

    Cons

The company has shifted, not what it used to be, inspiring women is not the focus with the constant changes the company has evolved into a cut throat, we don’t value our employees, type of workplace. What used to feel like a family has turned into a circus of jumping through hoops.

    Advice to Management

Back to the basics with a great product and excellent customer service should remain the focus and not the never ending tasking, and distractions that take away from what sets Dressbarn aside from other retailers.
