I worked at dressbarn full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people on staff to work with. Everyone friendly, good health benefits, flexible scheduling management nice helpful. Just need help in corporate above

    Cons

Not enough floor coverage only 2 people in the store during shifts even when busy, loss of hours, managers are expected to do everything from all visual changes which are at least twice a week. Unloading steaming and putting out merchandise, keeping track of store goals and budget, scheduling. With only a manager and 1 sales associate. It is a large work load for not enough pay. Company is in a mist of transition and are not clear of procedures. Plus cuts in payroll and budget. They want the associates to do community outreach with no budget or pay. And give prestige customer service. The buyers are clueless about the southern regions consumer needs and how to market it.

I worked at dressbarn (Less than a year)

    Pros

Working with the public, helping women find that right item for that special occasion, or just helping them find something that makes them feel awesome

    Cons

The company is going through some really hard times. Stocks have fallen from $22 a share to $2 a share (Ascena Retail Group Inc NASDAQ: ASNA - Nov 28, 10:17 AM EST) this has caused the company to do away with many full time positions and hire mainly part time people. The cost of the clothing has gone up while the quality has gone down causing it be a struggle to meet the hourly sales goals (which are not on on par with the area of your store)

    Advice to Management

Hire people who represent your brand both in and outside the store. Allow those who know their business to set up the goals (reasonable but with a bit of stretch.)

I worked at dressbarn full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Company philosophy, amazing-coworkers, great discount, opportunities to be creative

    Cons

"Work/life balance" only applies to stores with reasonable, empathetic Store Leaders.

Upper Management protects Store Leaders who are cruel, dishonest and unethical.

    Understaffed

    Poor salaries

    Advice to Management

Hold Store Leaders accountable, particularly very bad ones, accountable rather than losing loyal, hard working, honest, valuable employees. Dressbarn is a fabulous brand and when a store leader is ruining a store from the inside out and offending associates and customers they should be terminated.

I have been working at dressbarn full-time

    Pros

Some of the best, women and men I’ve ever met , the work/life balance and the mission to inspire women.

    Cons

The company has shifted, not what it used to be, inspiring women is not the focus with the constant changes the company has evolved into a cut throat, we don’t value our employees, type of workplace. What used to feel like a family has turned into a circus of jumping through hoops.

    Advice to Management

Back to the basics with a great product and excellent customer service should remain the focus and not the never ending tasking, and distractions that take away from what sets Dressbarn aside from other retailers.

    I worked at dressbarn part-time

    Pros

Employee discount is fair. Some nice style clothing

    Cons

Too many Chiefs and not enough Indians. Management terrible. I was treated more like a maid and security guard, not like the position I was hired for (Fashion Stylist). Late with weekly schedules. NOT personal life friendly Requested time off, often not honored. Worst experience in my 20+ years of work experience

    Advice to Management

Get on same page! Stop being harassing and demeaning to yourFashion Stylists. All Fashion Stylists should be equally respected. Make customers #1 again. I
