    Pros

Great on the cv when it's time to find your next job. I worked at eBay for nearly 5 years and it really helps when it comes to looking for your next job. eBay is still seen as one of the top Internet companies to work for and is known for only hiring top talent so having it on your cv makes you stand out.

Also, it's a very interesting business to be in, right in the intersection between ecommerce and social media. Some would argue it was one of the first "web 2.0" companies and is still exploring that space.

    Cons

BIG machine, loads of processes. As with all big companies there is a lot of processes at eBay to the extend that product development can take a very long time. If you the type that "just want to get things done" I'd argue that eBay is not for you.

    Advice to Management

    Continue the good work.

I worked at eBay full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Wonderful people, great colleagues who became friends as well
Provides career opportunity in terms of relocation or moving across the other eBay owned business but one should still be proactive about own career
Free fruits and breakfast provided in the office

    Cons

The company is getting too big in size so things are moving slower. More hoops to jump through to get things executed.

    Pros

Open Culture and great teamwork; people willing to listen and respectful of diverse opinions. Real desire to improve customer support. Take employee survey seriously and aim to change based on input

    Cons

Need to be more agile, move faster...plenty of competitors out there who are more nimble. Decide where to really compete in the market and go for it, sometimes all over the place

    Advice to Management

keep listening to all your stakeholders, employees, customers, shareholders etc. - move faster.

I have been working at eBay full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Really supportive and fun team environment - globally and in London. Strategy team all ex McK/BCG/Bain, super bright and fun to work with (feels a bit like consulting but without crazy hours). Lots of exciting change underway, means you get to work on some pretty far out projects. Strategy serve as swat team to CEO, so get good traction in the business.

    Cons

Lots of work with San Jose, means you get well acquainted with Virtual Meetings (often 5-10 screens at a time). Can sometimes result in late meetings but they're getting better at syncing time zones.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Great opportunities to learn and interface with a global team. Generally, people are smart and work together to get results. Campus culture is good as is the riverside location in Richmond.

    Cons

High concentration of management consultants, so a lot of pointless Powerpoint presentations. Richmond is a bit far from central London, so may be a con for some.

    Advice to Management

Less short-term focus on quarterly results and invest in the future like Amazon.

    Pros

This company has great ideals, but sometime management fails to focus on their execution. People are very smart and fun to work with, and work life balance is great. Though there isn't that much challenge everyday and people are afraid often to go against the status quo and risk for new breakthrough ideas.

    Advice to Management

I think the management needs to devolve a small part of their time towards more operational activities, to truly understand our customers.

I worked at eBay full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Large organisation with lots of opportunities to move geographies and change roles. Most people are super smart and generally nice to work with. Generally well paid. Work life balance is challenging but manageable.

    Cons

Management is top heavy (too many chiefs and not enough highly empowered indians). Lots of MBA strategy people with no clue about product development. Product & technology groups are disempowered. Still very waterfall in terms of planning. Minimal agility at the ground level.

    Advice to Management

Strategy, planning & prioritisation is so high level it is useless. It offers no guidance to teams at the ground level as to how to make trade offs between multiple strategic initiatives.
