I have been working at eBay full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Fulfilling roles, with an opportunity to make a real impact on the livelihood of millions and the global economy. Product managers are getting broad scope and responsibilities and are empowered to make decisions and drive execution.

    Cons

A meaningful emphasis on process at times, can tip the scale towards showing things are done more than getting things done.

I have been working at eBay (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great opportunity to list objects of my desire which usually include pre owned items from my family. I currently have an ebay assistant that helps me find areas of my listings that need aid. Paypal is a great service I use to get paid and ship my items with their affordable shipping labels. I am currently at a 100% seller profile. I am proud of that accomplishment.

    Cons

Most of the time my listings do not sell although at times they do. Seller fees are on the increase which means less money to pocket upon a sale.

    Advice to Management

Keep offering free listings. They are awesome. I love the ten photo option per listing.

I have been working at eBay full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great business, wonderful customers. Something special about this place. The company feels like it's on the UP again. Really good pay and benefits. Has a nice vibe - the San Jose campus is pretty cool.

    Cons

Hours can be long and demanding.

    Advice to Management

Keep investing in the product and the eBay brand. And keep pushing for more speed and innovation in the way people work and think. The culture is changing - definitely for the better.

I have been working at eBay full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Normally treating people good (some special cases are excluded) on compensation and benefits; work life balance is ok comparing to startups and other companies;
    and listening to concerns from employees based on quarterly engagement survey ;

    Cons

Sometimes lots of politics; diversity looks not good (majority of employees are Indian); Talkative people (not people who focus on working and delivering) got more opportunities

    Advice to Management

Focus on business, technologies, innovation and people who really help these stuffs

I worked at eBay full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

convenient location, flexible work hours... unfortunately there's not alot else to share that would qualify as a "pro"

    Cons

terrible decision making, frequent flip-flip on strategy and product direction, "do because I said so" style approach with no opportunity to discuss other perspectives, poor executive management, extremely limited opportunity for growth in most groups, high attrition rate leaves you constantly starting from scratch with many cross-departmental efforts.

I worked at eBay full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great exposure to technology and use cases related to big data. It helped me learn the basics and prepare myself for my next job

    Cons

It's a brand that's going sideways and if you're on the business side, you want to be thinking hard about how you move to you're next role.

I have been working at eBay as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Big company, some see that as a big plus. Cultural values are solid and well-meaning. Lots of spots on campus to get away when you need a little fresh air, but work space is far from ideal (so you'll need it).

    Cons

Being on site every day is expected. It's especially difficult when you're in an open-office environment, where it's loud, distracting and ultimately, counterproductive. Seems so old school to expect smart, seasoned professionals to be tethered to what's basically a glorified lunch table - especially if your job requires major focus (most do!). It's also a complex company, where nothing is easy. Getting things done, figuring out who does what, and finding answers is a constant exercise in frustration.

    Advice to Management

Find out what the data says about "open office environments" vs. private work spaces. Support telecommuting. Trust employees to do the right thing, even when they're not on campus (isn't that what the founders believed? That people are basically good?). Your employees will be happier and gain better work/life balance if you give them more freedom. A new approach will likely spark the bold ideas you claim to crave.
