    Pros

Good pay, provides good snacks and lunches. They also offer great perks as well.

    Cons

The company has an open wound that they can't seem to stitch up. So instead they fix it by going through rounds of laying off people as a bandaid. There is also no clear direction for management and things are often kept hidden during meetings.

    Advice to Management

Stop laying off people as a the only means to cut cost.

    Pros

eHarmony has good policies on work life balance.
Executives did a good job of maintaining focus.
Many people at eHarmony were smart and dedicated.

    Cons

I learned a lot during my short stint with eHarmony/elevated, but the biggest problem I observed was narcissism from management . There were plenty of evidence:
    - Pretentious show of authority by interrupting and speaking over others.
    - Freely label others to give self image of superiority
    - Trivialize others' efforts and exaggerate own's contributions.
    - Deflect blames
    - Personal attacks in the form of innuendos, smearing, and slandering.

This in turns, cultivated distrusts and hurt team morale.

    Advice to Management

Don't let narcissists turn the organization into a mini-Enron.

I have been working at eharmony full-time

    Pros

Diversity of challenges and staff. Nice new dig to work out of - but pricey neighborhood.

    Cons

To departmentalized; subliminal cliche's established throughout. Unfair expectations (ie no work-life balance). Too uptight of a culture. Use to be relaxed now trying to remake itself in images of certain few. Overly promote just on length of tenure vs. accomplishments.

I worked at eharmony full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Overall eHarmony is a great place to work. There is a family type of vibe that is shared across departments. The CEO is down to earth and super friendly. The perks and the insurance are both great. The pay is competitive with others in the field.

    Cons

I have worked in several different Finance Departments but this one was absolutely hands down the worst. The middle management in this department has ran most of the good qualified people away by not treating the employees fairly. They are counter productive to the type of environment the CEO is trying to create.

    I worked at eharmony full-time

    Pros

For the most part, I loved the people I worked with. Everyone was very laid back and fairly easy to collaborate with.

    Cons

VERY high school in that some groups are able to run meetings, disrupt projects, etc as though they're the "boss". Very annoying. Big egos for, in comparison to real tech companies, not a lot of talent. Additionally, and this could be a symptom of bad management in my group only, there was no room for advancement. If the manager didn't advance, they wouldn't advocate for you to advance. Though it may have changed, I think the engineering team was not given enough credit, considering they were running very lean with little to no support from senior management.

    Advice to Management

Just because you have free pizza on Fridays, doesn't make you a tech company.

    Pros

Lots of really smart people (in some departments)
    Tons of free food!

    Cons

    Little room for career advancement
    Poor benefits

    Advice to Management

Refocus your priorities on what built eHarmony to be what it once was. Side projects/initiatives like Jazzed are a waste of everybody's time.

Re-align your business practices with the message you communicate - practice what you preach. For a company that supposedly cares about its customers, the business practices often suggest otherwise.

You give off a really poor impression when you lay off a whole bunch of people and then go on a big hiring spree weeks later.
