I worked at esure full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good place to get some basic sales experience straight out of uni

    Cons

awful salary Definitely no career progression prospects, they're real fans of secondments, putting talented employees in positions of authority (management/underwriting etc) without making it permanent, purely to get around paying the correct salary for the role. Unfair treatment of employees, I managed a team and was being paid the salary of a customer service employee, because one of my new team members joined... the team at a senior customer service level he had a higher salary than me even though he was brand new and I was managing him...not the best for morale!

I have been working at esure full-time

    Pros

Friendly and supportive staff, steady and stable job, always learning new, convenient city centre location

    Cons

Always very busy and stressful, low pay compared to same job at other insurers in same location, internal promotion opportunities practically non-existent (my career progression has hit a wall after 2 roles in 5 years)

    Advice to Management

Need to boost pay to match competitors to reduce staff turnover, also need to provide staff with resources to get their job done well without the constant high stress levels, better opportunities for internal career progression

    I worked at esure full-time

    Pros

Modern offices, atmosphere used to be fun and friendly. This changed in the last 3-4 years with many redundancies and changes in structure.

    Cons

Constantly making people redundant / paying them off to leave immediately. Treated like children - constantly clock-watched with even the most hardest working more experienced members of staff finding themselves in trouble for petty reasons - if your face didn't fit they'd make life very difficult for you. Not allowed to eat and drink (other than water) at desk. Unfair absence monitoring system - colleagues who... had only taken 2-3 days off in a year could find themselves being hauled into meetings with HR. Favoritism of male staff over female, with female staff with children treated very unfairly - loss of ability for career progression and inflexible working hours. Had to be part of the 'in crowd' to progress in this company, experience seemed to count for nothing.

    Advice to Management

Treat staff like adults, allow flexible working (ie compressed hours, working from home) The practice of promoting staff internally to management roles when they don't have the necessary experience needed has lead to a talent deficit in this organisation - start recruiting people with the skills and experience needed to be successful in the role.
