    Pros

    New people to talk to.

    Cons

Sometimes not enough people to talk to.

    Advice to Management

Store level management is being constantly harassed about conversion. Being out of stock on small things such as water filters in the store and big things like entire kitchen packages in the main warehouse are contributing to our inability to meet this metric.

    Pros

Since Kronos launched, nobody really noticed that stores have been going over their hourly budgets and staffing the store the way it should be staffed. You also get "cost" (whatever it may be that certain day) on items for employee purchase, just don't be surprised if there's only one in stock and another store takes it from the DC.

    Cons

Let me begin by saying, the company is selecting associates that they believe will provide positive, high scoring reviews, to submit what they are calling a “Glassdoor Success Story”. This is not one of those coerced reviews. As an Operations Lead, you do everything. You spot check the store, load/unload trucks, deal with every customer issue, manage point, make schedules and schedule adjustments for associates (some of which are sales associates, which you are not responsible for), set/reset correct every ticket and mistake, retrieve invoices for disputes from the very top of the warehouse (seriously? Can no one else in the store take some initiative here?), fill in for scheduling voids for not only customer service but management as well (sometimes at the same time), the list goes on and on. You are constantly in a position where you have to fight and rush to get your work done without interruption with something that an actual manager on duty could take care of. Often times when a sales associate or CSM approaches a manager with something, they push the issue off on you. I’ve had issues to deal with from the day before when I was off. This behavior seems to be encouraged from high up the ladder. You learn solutions and aspects of the system that other managers know nothing about. You become an acting member of the IT department anytime something malfunctions, and you are held accountable when they haven’t fixed the issue. You work a 12 hour shift going above and beyond, but the minute you miss something or make a mistake, people are questioning your future. Those long days are because the hourly team is stretched thin and will call out on you in a heartbeat, forcing to stay and work the entire day. HHGregg hires lazy, incompetent people and doesn't do a thing about it, which puts real burden on other already hard working employees. You’re a manager when its convenient (AKA when the opening manager on duty wants to leave at 2PM and gives you that wink), and a glorified CSM when it isn’t. Everyone will take every humanly possible opportunity to take advantage of you. Advancement is a joke. Management will dangle the idea of MIT over your head to keep you moving forward. Because you already do the job without the pay, you’re faced with many more opportunities to make mistakes that could jeopardize your chances of MIT advancement, unlike a sales associate who is given the position based on sales numbers. The hourly rate for this position is much lower than comparable positions at competitors, a thought which really resonates with you day to day as you complete the salaried managers work.

    Advice to Management

Work on a better pay strategy for sales associates across the board. If by some stretch the company continues to pull it together, pay your Ops Leads more money, at least MIT pay, before they all have enough one day and throw their keys down the compactor, and walk out.

    Pros

Helping other people and not that easy to get fired.

    Cons

Not very flexible if you have a family, poor pay, overworked, a lot of micromanaging, stocks are low, you never know what's gone happen day to day. No solid structure, loss prevention team are the worst, and you always feel used.

    Advice to Management

Stop holding your employees back. Let them move up in the company.

    Pros

Family environment with a great group of associates. Competitive pricing makes them stand out.

    Cons

Never enough traffic to keep the lights on. Not enough sales to support staff and too many issues with communication. Upper management out of touch with store level difficulties.

    Advice to Management

Regional Managers are too far removed from customer issues and daily delivery problems that make job extremely stressful yet demand results no matter the issue. Told I was not allowed to answer a ringing phone is just absurd!
