I worked at hibu full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good people. Fun activities (dunk tanks, free water ice, and company events).

    Cons

Bad management. Promises of careers with no intention of delivering. Overworked and underpaid by industry standards. Turned talented, hard working and caring people in the field of SEM into nothing more than Google certified customer service reps. Raise structures are poor. Movement in the company is somehow always considered lateral when moving from department to department but the responsibility is anything but. No one cares about you. Micromanagement is abysmal. Lay offs- outsourcing. It's typical, by the book corporate America. Creativity is dead at this place. It's a stepping stone job, but usually when you try and jump from this stone to the next, the company has not provided you with enough skills to have a worthwhile resume, so you either end up fired because you were not prepared for the next step at a new company, or you end up with no phone calls and have to work at Hibu forever.

    Advice to Management

Understand your work force and then actually care about them.

I worked at hibu full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Friendly coworkers, even from other departments, as well as a laid back atmosphere. Fairly easy to access on public transit. Pleasant outdoor seating environment.

    Cons

Extreme expectations in sales promoting products that aren't easy to sell. Stressful and exhausting sales goals with little reward even if sale fell through.

    Advice to Management

Please be more supportive of those who are truly trying.

I worked at hibu full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The hours were great and so were the people I worked with.

    Cons

The commission was horrible. You are busting your tail for a base of 35k, and then it is a very tough product to sell. My manager was very nice but you could tell he was getting frustrated because nobody could meet the goal numbers. The reviews online kill the product sale. There are too many companies out there that can offer the same product so when the reviews stink people are afraid to purchase from you. You are constantly on the phone making 300 outbound dials a day. If you do not reach that number you will definitely hear about it. The health insurance plan is horrible. It is a high yield deductiable.

    Advice to Management

Hire employees that don't lie constantly to their customers. This will help with your reviews. The commission structure stinks. Yes there are bonuses but nobody is making money from commission. Employees are upset because they were lead to believe the average salary with commission is 75,000 + per year.

I worked at hibu (More than a year)

    Pros

Job stability as there is no end to the complaints clients have about the products-print or digital.

    Cons

-Little time to do research (1 day TAT and can only be done in betw calls)
-High turnover due to unrealistic expectations that are set
    -Morale is low
-Too many irate clients complaining about poor customer service, their sales reps, and the products
-Little opportunity for advancement due to high turnover

    Advice to Management

-Give a 2 day TAT for research and a half hour off the phones for each rep. No one can conduct research in betw calls.
-Set expectations that are realistic and acheivable.
-Make the training period longer and don't be in a rush to put new hires on the phones.

I have been working at hibu full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good environment, great coworkers, great training. Facilities are all very convenient and clean.

    Cons

Inconsistent quality of work from build and design time, cumbersome dialer program and phone system, virtually no training after initial class, drastic differences between how sale's leads handle their team. Frequent changes to products and pitches can be confusing.

    Advice to Management

The company is run like a corporation but aims to help small and family owned businesses. I believe the company needs to advertise more effectively to bring more customers to hibu, rather than the almost exclusive focus on call volume of telemarketers and outside sales reps to both educate and sell to their customers.

    Cons

They lie and say you can make 55000 a year but after you start they say oh it takes 3-6 to get good at this job so that's not equal to 55000 a year with the base being 35000 also you get very bad leads very repetitive!!! Calling the same people over and over again not for me

I worked at hibu full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Everyday was terrible here... but hey at least there's a ping pong table! Oh and every salesperson sacrificed their holiday bonuses to pay out a TV for a contest that 90% of us had no chance of winning... without our approval. So if your that guy that is going to win a flat screen TV hell yeah! If your the rest of the room clapping as you give away a Christmas bonus...kinda makes ya feel terrible inside.

    Cons

Well where do I begin? Zero communication between mgmt and employees and any interactions with your superiors just showcases that they have A.) No clue what you're talking about. B.) No ability to learn the answer and C.) Only came for a check and nothing more or D.) All of the above. No opportunity to communicate with other employees to grow the knowledge pool on the floor. Unless your a "favorite" then you really don't have to work at all. They hand out hot leads to top sellers and give the other 95% 10 ton haystacks that have 1 needle per haystack. This is coupled with the audacity to tell you to be more like the people who are selling. (The same people that are being handed needles, not haystacks) Yellow book is old school American business circa 1975-1987, they step on the backs of those who make them money in order to make more money. They could not care less about you. I literally quit because after being diagnosed with pre-cancer cells in my colon they responded with "Well we understand but we need you to be on time, make sales goals and operate as if nothing is wrong with you." GTFO here, this place is the yellow book's corpse that's been reanimated to suck the purpose , brains and souls from all who dare enter. If that's not the most accurate description of this place i don't know what is.

    Advice to Management

Grow up. Favorites worked in high school, they get you sued in today's environment. I watched a kid get called a nasty nickname his and my boss made up for him and it hurt the kid everyday to hear it and it became his name on our floor. He complained about it and I even raised a concern for a hostile work environment and their HR system BACKED THE MANAGER MAKING UP NAMES! What more do you need to know? It disgusts me knowing how much time and effort I sacrificed into a company that literally WILL NOT promote out of their call center seats.
