I worked at hybris Software full-time

    Pros

Very strong culture with a tight team. This can be a limitation for new people, but it allows for a greater focus.

    Cons

The acquisition by SAP makes it part of a very large organization. That larger organization for some is not a great fit. However, it did lead to much better benefits and perks.

I have been working at hybris Software full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

hybris is a dynamic, constantly changing place full of interesting opportunities and challenges. The extreme growth over the past years has shaped the company and made it more mature, and working on and with a very successful product is very rewarding.
Management is easily approachable and has open doors - and listens to concerns. People are treated with great respect, and there's a general positive, friendly atmosphere in the offices.
Most importantly, hybris employs great people and fosters social interactions, making it a very fun place to work.

    Cons

    - Middle management is not always as competent as desirable, due to rapid growth and hiring
    - Growth requires constant re-organisation, often leading to confusion and sometimes opaque decision making processes

I have been working at hybris Software as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

People are very open and always ready to help. Good work is always rewarded. Good growth opportunities on a company level. Startup state of mind within multinational sized company.

    Cons

Lack of challenge at times, seems a bit hierarchal at times. Internal processes should include cutting edge technology.

    Advice to Management

Invest in new cutting edge technology in IT. More fluid interactions between teams by hiring crossfunctional employees.

    Pros

It has a high scope for innovation, every developer is given equal importance, follows Agile methodology, follows an updated technical stack and challenging deadlines.

    Cons

Hybris platform is pretty huge and took a bit time to get inline with the other developers.

I have been working at hybris Software full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Friendly and open environment. It's fast-paced and things evolve quickly - the vision evolves as fast as the eCommerce industry does, and so your focus today may be very different from your focus in 9 months time. The recent SAP takeover hasn't really impacted the culture a large amount at the moment.
I progressed from a Professional Services consultant in the UK to a Product Manager in a year - not anticipated when I started, but hybris is one of the few cultures where, if you grab the opportunities when they come, you can pretty much carve out your own career if you have the aptitude.

    Cons

Not a place for people who need to be told what to do. You need to be a real self-starter, and you need to network and make use of resources to get the best understanding of the organization (which changes shape frequently) and the product / product roadmap.
Consequently, it's not hugely systemized as in order to be agile, the company tends to adopt technologies that are easily adaptable (e.g. the Wiki guides everything!)
This is changing slowly, but creakingly slowly - and the integration with SAP is helping this somewhat.
The takeover by SAP has inevitabily introduced some conflicts where there can be mixed messaging from the SAP side of things - but again, this is not nearly as bad as I anticipated (having been through four mergers before).
The most annoying part of the culture can be the some cliquey nature, where you do get little enclaves of coolness - but these quite often don't get the chance to become ingrained due to the way things get shaken up on a regular basis.
Also, I'd say that because there can be a lot of change, teams can sometimes seem to be pulling in different direction - there isn't really clear leadership from the top - it tends to filter down in such a way as people have their own take on what it means and implement as they see fit, which can cause a lot of friction until consensus starts to form. Not always hugely efficient - more of a Darwinian model in many ways! But usually the best way forward wins out eventually.
Some of the niceties of corporate life can get neglected sometimes - this is very much left to individuals and individual offices to sort out (e.g. charitable work etc) but this is beginning to very very slowly change.

    Advice to Management

Try to be clearer on company goals, and it would be great if the Vision could remain reasonably stable - this makes it a lot easier to execute!
More investment in maintaining the social side of hybris would be good to ensure hybris doesn't get swallowed up into corporate thinking.
