I worked at iA Financial Group as an intern

    Pros

The people at the company were all friendly and as an summer employee, everyone was helpful and approachable at all levels. They do a decent job at initiating you into the company and job. Most employees work the 35 hour work week, which is 7 hours a day. The company emphasizes work/life balance well.

    Cons

Career development and salary progression didn't seem to be as promising as other companies. Moreover, at my particular office, there were a lot of older employees who were towards the end of their careers and the ability of management to connect with the younger generation of employees seems to be lacking.

    Pros

You'll be self-employed, which means you'll have a lot of freedom regarding you're schedule, vacations, etc. You'll also be the only one responsible for your success : the effort you put into your work will, one way or another, pay off.

    Cons

The freedom of being self-employed may be too much to handle for some.

    Pros

Large company, opportunities available across Canada

    Cons

Large company can mean you get lost in the void

    Pros

    Competitive Salary
    convenient work times
    Flexibility
    Atmosphere

    Cons

    Upper Management
    Male to Female ratio

    Advice to Management

Just as much as you focus on upper management and all that they do, take the time to recognize the people who may actually be putting everything into place.

I have been working at iA Financial Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Large organization offers lots of opportunities for growth and development.
    - Benefits are very good (pension plan), group insurance - although there is a cost sharing for group insurance which is a bit unusual since we are the insurer.
    - Supportive management and HR team

    Cons

    - Technology has not kept up with the times and no longer meets our needs (heavy laptops that constantly breakdown, difficulty getting onto VPN often, not enough work cell phones for those that require)

    Advice to Management

    - Improve the technology we are using so that we can be more effective.

I worked at iA Financial Group full-time

    Pros

    1. Receive good training that empowers you to effectively perform and deliver on your targets.
    2. Management offers you requisite facilities and supportive environment to succeed.
    3. Paid commission weekly for each transaction concluded.

    Cons

    1. Management requires each one signing a contract to work full-time which bars you from having a second job. Most people I know pursuing Financial Advisor as a career prefer working part-time while having a paid job to mitigate loss of revenue.

    Advice to Management

Management could consider letting people signing contracts as Financial Advisor work part-time if they choose - make it optional.

    Pros

Culture is great and there is often free food provided by the department and occasional eat out at restaurant

    Cons

All tasks and documents have to be checked by management

    Advice to Management

Give more individual freedom to workers
