    fast work place

    Pros

    - CEO and partners always looking for next investment idea or next company to acquire/merge - competitive pay and good insure, and plus some share options - office is nice convenient location in grand central, beautiful terraces - multiple offices in princeton/grand central, and greenwich making it easy for employees commute - people are generally very nice and helpful; a lot of new joiners almost every week - we're always hiring new ppl, new projects, endless opportunity in diff areas, data sci, ML/AI, quant research, etc. ; if you're hired as developer, you can also rotate into other groups, and there's also a bootcamp for new hires - free snacks - work/life, unlimited sick days, 20d vacations

    Cons

    - there is some level of turnover here, combo of ppl leaving, wanting to be in hot tech or fang instead of wall st. - with new mergers every few months, there's always work to do, new challenges, and new ppl; for tech infra, it means the need to remain flexible and ability to move fast, and likewise for software development to merge features to core app - core app is Ruby based making it harder to find good Ruby ppl, and attract new talent; if you don't like Ruby and want pure Java/Go microservices framework, this is not the place; cost of moving off Ruby is way too high, and not practical nor justified - iCap is near 8yrs old, but still has a startup culture and feel, this is both a pro/con in sense it's fast moving; you're expected to do real work for the company even on day 1; if slower pace is your cup of tea, I suggest you goto a big firm instead

    Pros

The company is growing with a clear path for continued growth for years to come. The benefits are pretty good. There is opportunity to advance your career in a culture that is collaborative and an environment that is professional. The people are of this company are one its many strengths.

    Cons

As with any growing company, the company is trying to mature how it operates with some growing pains along the way. The headcount growth has been rapid during the pandemic so there is a need to strengthen employee relationships because many have only been virtual to date

    Good concept , Bad execution!

Nov 14, 2021 - Vice President in New York, NY

    Pros

After a string of bad reviews we have been asked to provide "positive feedback".

    Cons

iCapital had an opportunity to solidify its employee brand and promote work life balance, instead leadership decided to secure more office space and open more roles in saturated markets ( NYC, CT ). The result is positions being opened for months and new hires not being trained properly.

    Scaling for the worst!!

    Pros

I joined iCapital a few years ago. The company was scaling, lots of exciting energy, good people then reality sets in. At one point there were was an effort to create a D&I employee group. It was led by the two employees in the recruiting team. They were both African-American and they did a great job recruiting and creating programs to keep employees engaged during Covid. But , they mysteriously disappeared and were placed by folks who were hired to check boxes. There is no sign of diversity in this company , just rhetoric. If you are looking to join an old boys network that celebrates their partnerships with golfers over any other civic event then you can have my spot. It will be available soon.

    Cons

Inconsistent management. We have roles that have been open for over a year and management can’t figure out how to close them

    Pros

iCapital is growing and scaling very quickly and it is a very exciting time to be part of this team. You can feel how driven people are to work for iCapital and the passion the team has.

    Cons

With growth, comes growing pains. But, no problems are ever ignored and these growing pains are always addressed openly.

    Great Place to Work

    Pros

I have been at iCapital now for close to 6 months and to be frank it has been a great experience so far. The level of transparency at the firm is very different from other firms I have worked at in the past - this starts at the top with the Executive Committee and works its way down to all managers. My favorite example is how every Sunday without fail our CEO sends an email to the entire firm with an update on what went on the past week as well as a long list of proprietary information of new things that the firm is working on. It really makes me feel like a part of a tight knit team!

    Cons

I don't have much to write here as the general culture of the firm is if there is a problem we fix it.

Crucial talent turnover and absent leadership focused on hyper growth/profits

Aug 20, 2021 - Associate in New York, NY

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Monthly Happy Hours Beautiful Terrace Free Friday lunch Sales and marketing team bringing more rounds of financing/acquisitions and increasing value of stakeholders Rapid rise in company valuation and global footprint Exciting, innovative and cool industry to be in presently (FinTech is sexy)

    Cons

Top down leadership Political upper and middle management Highly toxic blame culture, office gossip is rewarded Below average compensation compared to industry High turnover from top-talent and recent brain drain Limited in promotion and educational opportunities Lack of Technology in Fin-Tech Highly disorganized, overworked/low morale employees and help from other teams Bonuses and promotions rewarded very late cycle (February) instead of end of year (December)
