    Pros

    Salary, benefits, sometimes challenging

    Cons

Too many sensitive millennials. Often feels like walking on eggshells. While the open exchange of ideas is touted, people get easily miffed and wii\ll later seek retribution, watch you back.

    Advice to Management

Do away with nepotism and hiring connections, focus on hiring the most qualified.

I have been working at iRobot full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Benefits, pay, location.Potentially great technology to explore. If they ever get their act together.

    Cons

Low level work, high mid management turnover/rotation. Overall the company is very management heavy. Every manager has different expectations, so their is some clamoring for people to move around to get under the more reasonable managers.. Some people are still coasting because of their relationships. Managers with superiority complexes. wrong people being rewarded. No stock options, or profit sharing options available to non executive level employees.

    Advice to Management

Clean the place up, when I first got here I saw potential in many areas, now all I see is disparity and fear. I've been staying with the hope that at some point things will change, but I am starting to lose hope.

I have been working at iRobot full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great environment. Mostly friendly people. Good benefits. The company tries so hard to be like Google when it's just a pipe dream, trying to keep people on staff but everyone knows the reality of the situation.

    Cons

Upper management has no direction. They are tryIng so hard to push out products that the integrity of the product is completely jeopardized. Things that don't work in BETA only months away from launch are still not fixed let alone acknowledged. A company which was once held as prestigious and innovative has turned into nothing but a shell of its former self.

People who are so called managers sometimes don't even have anyone reporting to them, which kind of makes you think what are they managing? Their lifestyle? Their responsibility as a human being to show up for work?

The company has turned into a revolving door. Those who are qualified quickly jump ship because they know this company is slowly becoming obsolete.

They are dying for government contracts right now but aren't able to acquire any so their best bet is to sell their Roomba's. 25 years ago these were the things of the future, but nothing has changed.

They outsource their pool products to companies you haven't even heard of and they just slap the irobot sticker on it so people will buy the product only to find out that it's a useless product. Since we don't make it, we can't troubleshoot what's wrong with the product. Therefore if something goes wrong we'll send you an email saying how "sorry" we are and that you need to ship it out to get it serviced because we have no idea what to do.

People with certain titles should never even be considered for their position.

    Advice to Management

Start caring about your customers and less about your image.

Every product you make has a 1 year warranty meaning you don't believe in the products longevity and won't allow customers to pay extra for long term service.

As a business how do you stand by that?

    Pros

Enthusiastic employees. Creative people. Cool projects.

    Cons

Constant lies and misinformation coming from upper management. Micromanagement of workers. Too many managers. Numerous layoffs and reorganizations. Weak, non-competitive employee compensation. Lots of turnover...company losing brain trust and top talent.

    Advice to Management

Start paying attention to surveys rather than paying lip service.

    Pros

-Work life balance is great, because no one does their work and they just shift blame from one person in a team to another

    Cons

-They haven't come out with a new robot (on their own IP) for ten years. Don't come here if you want to be working for an innovative company. They sell themselves well, but they don't live up to the hype
-Everyone here points fingers, they don't take ownership

    Advice to Management

You talk a big game about talent retention, but you just had one of your biggest years for profit. Put your money where your mouth is.

I have been working at iRobot full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Half-day Fridays for the summer. Beer cart. Exceptionally good marketing team. People don’t work as hard as those at other companies I’ve worked at.

    Cons

Lip service to individual performance and skills. No value associated with capabilities beyond specific job description. Limited opportunities for internal growth unless you are personal friends with upper management. Continual layoffs for the last 3 years. Don’t know how to motivate or retain top talent … the reason for so many openings. Not a state-of-the-art company.

    Advice to Management

Understand that the technical staff and not the support staff are the life blood of the company.

I have been working at iRobot full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A lot of high skilled and talented employees in ALL areas
    Great pay and benefits
    Wonderful vacation time

    Cons

Really odd purchasing process, take way to long to buy something
Different organizational units are completely out of sync
This company of 600 is run likes it's a company of 100,000, NGC/Lockheed and Boeing are more efficient and have less red tape
Program management here is very weird, extremely inefficient, can't seem to make decisions. Everyone is passing the buck.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to be Google and be iRobot

I have been working at iRobot full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Short commute. Can sometimes be very entertaining to listen to some of the conversations.

    Cons

Rubbing elbows with the right people is more important than being good at your job. Management is always pushing the lower staff for higher levels of performance usually related to more hours not more brilliance. Constant reorganization and layoff. Morale is poor. No employee stock plan. Many managers tend to micromanage thus becoming an irritant. The place is like a post College hangout for some, leaving the work to others.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to your people. Seems like the big shots come pump up the stock cash out and leave. Too much higher level turnover. Don't treat all the workers like they are expendible.

I have been working at iRobot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Passionate people, true desire to "make a difference" and "change the world"

    Cons

Micromanagement at all levels; no cohesive sense of purpose (every man/woman/child for themselves); lost ability to innovate (just look at the latest acquisition and press surrounding it); cronyism

    Advice to Management

Time to act on the poor employee survey results that are _consistently given_ an stop paying them lip service alone
