    Pros

    Flexible Work Hours are unbeatable for accommodating non-work interests. The company has a lot of youthful excitement and energy, and a ton of fun and fantastic people who work there (they just tend not to be managers).

    Cons

    Management at the top level is does a poor job of communicating intentions and vision to those below them. The "number one priority" changes day to day and projects can be redirected or axed per whims of management.

    Advice to Management

    Develop a strategic plan and actually follow it instead of chasing the latest fire, fad, or personal conviction. Create an environment which encourages personal accountability instead of rampant finger-pointing among departments.

    Pros

    We do build cool stuff. The people here are great to work with, and we get a nice amount of paid time off.

    Cons

    The company seems to have a distressing tendency toward doing the absolute minimum necessary to accomplish its immediate goals, with respect both to its customers and to its employees. They are also pretty bad at communicating internally.

    Advice to Management

    Be more proactive about fixing problems and making improvements - don't wait until it becomes a crisis. Talk with your underlings about what's going on - if we hear about what the company is doing, or what's going wrong, by reading the news (or press releases), something is wrong.

    Pros

    A regular paycheck and not too long a commute. I'm well payed for what I do. Average place, standard benefits.

    Cons

    A good of compartamentalized knowledge, I always feel like management is not in touch with the rest of us and they seem very stingy with information regarding the company and the state of teh business. Presentation are staged to dispense information geared to stimulate people and it usually feels like a show and not really the truth.

    Advice to Management

    Get us all on the same page. Personally I feel like a mushroom.

    Work-life balance, pay, benefits, potential, strong home robots performance

    Poorly communicated vision, misaligned senior leaders, lost culture of innovation

    Advice to Management

    Get back to your roots. Lead from the top and let subordinates do their jobs. Value innovation REALLY. Stop loss of top talent before its too late. Look at all the key employees and co-founders who left because they couldn't pursue iRobot's mission of "changing the world through robotics" while staying employed there......many others are contemplating the same move.

    I worked at iRobot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Casual atmosphere. Managers don't micro manage. Flexible work schedule. Interesting environment.

    Cons

    Management out of touch and don't pull their weight. Lower level employees do all the work and get no recognition. If there is an issue managers DO NOT give employee a chance to defend themselves. Don't trust fellow employees. Layoffs not based on job performance.

    Advice to Management

    Appreciate and reward lower level employees. Your way is not the only way. Base layoffs on job performance not connections.

    Passionate people, true desire to "make a difference" and "change the world"

    Cons

    Micromanagement at all levels; no cohesive sense of purpose (every man/woman/child for themselves); lost ability to innovate (just look at the latest acquisition and press surrounding it); cronyism

    Time to act on the poor employee survey results that are _consistently given_ an stop paying them lip service alone

    Pros

    Short commute. Can sometimes be very entertaining to listen to some of the conversations.

    Cons

    Rubbing elbows with the right people is more important than being good at your job. Management is always pushing the lower staff for higher levels of performance usually related to more hours not more brilliance. Constant reorganization and layoff. Morale is poor. No employee stock plan. Many managers tend to micromanage thus becoming an irritant. The place is like a post College hangout for some, leaving the work to others.

    Advice to Management

    Pay attention to your people. Seems like the big shots come pump up the stock cash out and leave. Too much higher level turnover. Don't treat all the workers like they are expendible.

    Pros

    A lot of high skilled and talented employees in ALL areas
    Great pay and benefits
    Wonderful vacation time

    Cons

    Really odd purchasing process, take way to long to buy something
    Different organizational units are completely out of sync
    This company of 600 is run likes it's a company of 100,000, NGC/Lockheed and Boeing are more efficient and have less red tape
    Program management here is very weird, extremely inefficient, can't seem to make decisions. Everyone is passing the buck.

    Advice to Management

    Stop trying to be Google and be iRobot

    Pros

    Beer cart, Fun people...that's it.

    Cons

    You'll NEVER be appreciated for what you do for the company. Highly invisible and too many layers. Everyone seems to be "Senior or Principle Engineer", too many managers/Sr. manager/directors. They are about to be beaten-up by Korean competitors. The only thing iRobot has ever made is it's roomba - everything else is just copy. So unimaginative. If you really care for the company you work for, this is not the place for you, as the company will never care back. People are burdened to death, with no career growth!
    HR is a joke.

    Advice to Management

    Care for the people who contribute towards your success EVERYDAY.

    Pros

    Half-day Fridays for the summer. Beer cart. Exceptionally good marketing team. People don’t work as hard as those at other companies I’ve worked at.

    Cons

    Lip service to individual performance and skills. No value associated with capabilities beyond specific job description. Limited opportunities for internal growth unless you are personal friends with upper management. Continual layoffs for the last 3 years. Don’t know how to motivate or retain top talent … the reason for so many openings. Not a state-of-the-art company.

    Advice to Management

    Understand that the technical staff and not the support staff are the life blood of the company.
