    I have been working at j2 Global full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    j2 is the best organization I've worked for. My Director is pretty awesome. The individuals within the engineering team truly care about the products we offer.

    Cons

    Location can be somewhat challenging.

    Advice to Management

    Slow down a bit in order for the organizational processes to align as one. Rome was not built over night.

    Nice people who are trying to do good work

    Cons

    Low bar set for product (management, development, marketing), customer and engineering. Bonus structure eliminated without explanation. Favoritism in promotions. No career path. People who have been there many years are part of the mediocrity and low bar culture. Fax products are not innovative or progressive. Teams do not communicate well, cover up and point fingers as to sub par work. Not great benefits. Acquisitions distract in short term for no long term strategy.

    Advice to Management

    Support, pay, reward and hire people who will build a better brand

    Company has successfully managed financial budgets for investors

    Cons

    Product leaders are unprofessional and lack basic capability of product lifecycle. Clubby/Clique attitude - unwelcoming, chaotic and dysfunctional. Fax Product Management/Marketing/Sales and Engineering Development leaders are reactionary and lack deep understanding of how to build and launch products to the markets they are attempting to serve. Favoritism. Silos. Poor communication within teams and cross department. Lack of accountability for creation of a non integrated, half implemented acquisitions. Old technology. Customer Service loses half the customers that sign on and have little interest in helping and supporting people using the product

    Advice to Management

    Invest in people who understand the markets they are serving and the technology that is enabling the businesses. Move quickly to one platform and grow

    Pros

    You can work on the same hardware your grandpa had put into production.

    Cons

    Upper management points fingers. Highlights failures and not successes. Teams do not work together. management is more worried about cost reduction vs. making a stable product. No long term strategy for teams.

    Advice to Management

    The team needs to consolidate Platforms. Leadership needs to remove IT leaders who are just mean and not professional!

    relax work environment, free breakfast. nice coworkers

    Cons

    low compensation, no bonus, no appreciation whatsoever, work less get more due to lack of technical knowledge from higher management. under monitoring big time.

    Pros

    The business gives you higher level control of responsibility and you can actually get rewarded by your managers for good solid work with praise.

    Cons

    The locals outside of the office. There are a lot shady characters on Hollywood that stalk you after hours, both male and female.

    Advice to Management

    Move the office to a more family friendly location like Burbank or Glendale, or the Valley.

    Pros

    I honestly cannot think of a single pro to share. I actually lost thousands of dollars trying to get established at this place.

    Cons

    An extremely cleeky, old-school, and unwelcoming bunch of people, hanging on to yesteryears communication technology, in the most unprofessional settings. The lack of planning, documentation, process, and engineering is unlike you have ever seen anywhere and in any country.
    Compensation is low. Health coverage won't start in your first three months.
    Single Points of Failure are not just technology, but people too.
