    Pros

You can make it what you want here - so long as you know how to play the corporate game.

    Cons

Not a place for the weak minded and many people just come here to collect pay checks.

    Advice to Management

Learn to recognize the talent and not just employee numbers - the talent is diluted by the check collectors and therefore you lose employees that would drive the business at an exponential rate.

    Pros

    Healthcare is ok I think.

    Cons

    Old fashioned
    Bureaucratic
    Everything happens in slow motion
Don't care about people. Everyone is replaceable
They despise spending money on anything.

J2 is trying to be a tech company but is not even close. They don't compare in any area to a Google or Facebook from a culture and corporate perspective. They are stuck in the past. Probably because their breadwinner is fax which no tech person cares about.

    Advice to Management

Replace all of them with real tech execs.

    Pros

Casual culture and relaxed environment create a comfortable culture to work in.

    Cons

Long hours, minimal investment in new technology makes the work unnecessarily difficult.

    Advice to Management

Better HR Policies - consider treating employees better; namely, increasing vacation and offering better benefits.

    Pros

Free coffee and snacks. Wish I could think of more things to say here. Look at cons area for much more.

    Cons

Pay below industry average. No bonuses or raises. Completely transactional and dont really care about the sales team. Will continue to churn top sales team because they dont pay us correctly nor have any vision for us.

    Advice to Management

Look at how normal sales teams are run and follow that method. If you want to be just transactional hire a few burger flippers to do the job. Top sales should be rewarded.

I have been working at j2 Global full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It's a steady job at a company that claims it will last the test of time. Bagels twice a week but not enough to feed all 3 floors of employees. Fruit twice a week but not enough to feed all 3 floors of employees. Vending machines with snacks but not provided free like most tech companies and you guessed it ... not enough to feed all 3 floors of employees.

    Cons

Pay is 20%+ below industry average with benefits that are slipping yearly. Bonus is no more than 5% a year. You will not get a raise and they'll be sure to tell you that you're at their "salary max for the role" when you get the job. Don't let them trick you with this - negotiate your base pay as high as possible knowing they're in desperate need of new employees as many have become smart and quit. Commuter "benefit" is a joke - it's all on you, pretax. Healthcare costs have gone up yearly with average coverage. 401k employer contribution is a flat $500 after you put in $2000. To a small company, any of this would be okay, but j2 posted a 1.095B revenue for 2016...

Research this tech balloon. They are leveraging debt by buying struggling companies to meet year over year revenue growth ... to meet executive bonus and stock vesting requirements. CEO notoriously pays himself 4.5 million a year (750k plus 3.5M in bonus and stock - public knowledge, find it online) while skimps out on employee raises, instead gifting employees a pair of cheap socks at Christmas.

Your workspace is tiny, like a long feudalism sweatshop work table lined with peasants, void of privacy and incredibly distracting when your neighbors host meetings at their unshielded desks. You're expected to clock in and out, even if you're a full time peasant - anything the lords will do to keep the peasant in his place.

    Advice to Management

The CEO doesn't care for advice, as he's in it to line his pockets before he retires on his fortune in his nice house driving his nice cars. Gone are the days of lineage and honor - creating something that lasts with products people want to actually buy. This isn't Apple. j2 Global is in it for revenue growth and once the management cashes out, it will tank.

If you're listening - treat employees the way you want to be treated. If you take off 4 weeks of PTO, then give the employees the same. If your bonus is 400% of your massive salary, then give the employees the same chance to earn the same percentage. If you get annual raises, then why the hell don't your employees get the same if they've earned it. J2 Global is an example of everything wrong in America - an ever growing wage gap in a capitalist society run by greed.

    Pros

NOC Co workers are a pleaser to work with. Lots of room to touch and support production equipment and not just open tickets.

    Cons

Its right in front of the Hollywood Manns Chinese theater and the traffic is a nightmare.

    Advice to Management

NOC manger is the best and most reasonable managers I have ever worked for

    Pros

The CEO is approachable. I think he honestly cares about the company and employees.

The are many small perks (which many employees might feel are entitlements): 25cent sodas, free bagels and fruit, fully stocked coffee & tea, occasional food truck lunches; T-day lunches; theme and holiday party; reimbursed commuter expenses; $500 matching 401k. HixMe (innovative medical plan), quarterly dinners w/ management and quarterly bonuses. While some might sound trivial, they are certainly optional and offer a nice touch.

I find the pay scale fair if not overly exhuberant. I chose to join the company and therefore accept the salary, benefits and perks.

    Cons

The company is revenue driven, very cost conscience and opportunistic. This makes it sometimes chaotic as strategic plans fall by the wayside with new acquisitions and the focus can be more on the status quo rather than innovation and entrepreneurship from within.

But know that going in, and the environment is quite logical and understandable.

    Advice to Management

Executive team might consider MBWA - hang out in the common areas and learn what hurdles your teams are trying to over come. Focus on profit and not revenue. Celebrate people and not events.

    Pros

I wish I could come up with something positive....

    Cons

    - Short term vision. Growth plan only through acquisitions.
    - High turnover. Poor pay and benefits.
    - Management at all levels is bad and the culture there is not a positive experience.
    - Products outdated and customer experience is generally negative.

    Advice to Management

    - Change the business model.
    - Treat your employees better with pay and benefits.

I worked at j2 Global (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people I got to work with were super nice and helpful. The location was good too, and it was a nice summer gig.

    Cons

Super low pay. I took the job because I like the location and wanted to stay there during the summer. The pay was an absolute joke however.

    Advice to Management

Pay your interns more, like twice as much at least. Your interns probably would have made more working as a waiter, which won't attract talent with other the options.

    Pros

Good place to learn because they throw everything at you and let you run with it. The salary is decent although not a great benefits package.

    Cons

The expectations are enormous! You are often expected to work late and to answer for mistakes, regardless of whether they are your own. There a lot of gossip and many eyes on you at all times. Many entitled and dim people in the upper management. There also may be some ethical breaches. HR dept is the absolute worst. Technology may soon become totally irrelevant so may not be great job security. Executives have an everyone is replaceable mentality.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to your staff and the work environment. Do more things to show appreciation. Review ethical compliance and adhere to norms.
