An okay place to work with changes needed

Nov 10, 2021 - Anonymous Employee in Wilmington, NC

    Pros

Work life balance is great. I never needed to work after hours and they offer lots of fun perks in the summer like paddle boarding and surfing. The office environment was pretty fun and flexible pre-covid. The majority of people are nice, smart and pleasant to work with. I felt like I got valuable experience here. Benefits are great.

    Cons

The pay is far below industry standard (even for nc). They used to get away with this due to the lack of large employers in Wilmington. But with remote work increasing, people have left for pay increases that range from 50-60%. Promotions are typically done based on time in role instead of merit so it can take a while to move up in the company. This also means you will have different roles levels doing the same level of work. Management and leadership are filled with under qualified employees who got in at the right time. Those who joined the company 5+ years ago are treated like royalty and can get away with doing very little work and professional development. Because of this there are very few opportunities for mentorship and growth. They’re also weirdly resistant to remote work and just spent a ton of money building a new office. Also, don’t trust the overly positive reviews. The companies is always asking people to post reviews and there are a lot of people who drink the koolaid.

    Designers Beware!!!

    Nov 18, 2021 - Product Designer
    Recommend

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Work life balance is good Low expectations for work output

    Cons

    - The design team is an absolute joke. If you are a product designer, do not work here. You will not get better at design and you will not be given the opportunity to work on fulfilling design projects - Managers on the design team have led the product design team straight into the ground. There is no framework that a design team should have - research, design library, testing of designs -- NONE of that exists here. - I want to reiterate, if you are a designer please do not work here for your own sake of your career and your sanity.

    Best company culture I've experienced

    Apr 16, 2021 - Sales
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

In my 10+ years in tech I've never been a part of such an amazing company culture. Everyone is bringing their A-Game every day which is contagious. Leadership encourages you to be yourself and find a proper work/life balance. They truly care about people. No wonder we're booming!

    Cons

With growth comes change. Some people don't like the change and/or haven't bought all the way in.. or think 'the grass is greener' somewhere else.

Culture
Today, nCino employees near and far are coming together to watch the FIFA World Cup! Our Wilmington office had a watch party on the new Stairatorium in nCino 2, while our Salt Lake City office gathered for lunch to watch the game. What a great way to Have Fun and Live The Six!

Culture
At nCino, the mental and physical wellness of our employees is a priority. Our APAC team enjoyed a Big Blue Table lunch in cooperation with Beyond Blue, an Australian organization that provides information and support for mental health. The team spent time talking about the resources and strategies they can take advantage of to support their mental health so they can bring their A-game in their personal and professional lives.
