I worked at nTelos full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

My immediate team of four was composed of some of the best colleagues I've ever had the pleasure to work with. The benefits package is competitive and includes generous profit sharing, retirement contribution matching, stock options, and paid cell service. There is reasonable horizontal mobility between departments, which is great for employees seeking opportunities to experience different roles. The company also is involved in several community service and charity initiatives, which I was proud to be involved in.

    Cons

While the company is reasonably large, it is extremely management-heavy, which limits advancement opportunities. At the level I was hired, my only advancement opportunity would be if a manager, director, or VP left the company. I also heard that the company doesn't hire "someone my age" for the position and salary I was seeking, despite having qualifying experience, which is unlawful.

The company's upper management makes decisions without consulting the corporate working body. Often these decisions take the company in directions in opposition to operational guidance that has been provided. This means constant rework, wasted work, frustrated employees who aren't able to finish an initiative before being steered in a new direction. At least six months of my team's work was abandoned over the course of a year. Even the executive team was at odds with the board, which resulted in one particularly capable CEO being asked to resign.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the counsel provided by the talent you've hired. Follow the guidance of your talented executives instead of forcing the company in irrational directions.

    Pros

It's income if you must have it, but not more than that.

    Cons

The object of the game is to cell cell phones, in areas that have no cell phone service. Commission made on sales are 'charged back' if the customer brings it back..which is going to continually happen because there is no service in the area.

    Advice to Management

Training is a joke, unethical business practices with attempting to push sales of contract phones on those who do not have service in the vast majority of their service area.
