I have been working at ooma full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some of the best reasons to work for Ooma outside sales, has been the opportunity to make great money as well as solidify a new career. The ability to work for and represent the #1 company in industry is amazing! The commission and bonuses are attainable month to month which has allowed my family a great work lif balance. In 6 months, I was able to advance to Area Sales Supervisor and I now help to build and advance my team to be great leaders and make great money in the process. There is a great support team in place that made sure I always had the proper tools to succeed.

    Cons

This is a very rewarding position and company to work for and with commitment and drive, you will be successful. Though this is not for everyone! If you don't like beingrewarded for hard work, if you can't see the big picture, if you don't want to strive to be the best you possible- this opportunity may not be for you. I had my doubts in the very beginning, though I made my quota first month, I left for another opportunity that I thought would be better, it wasn't. I quickly found out that Ooma was not too good to be true, they were just true. I was able to gain a second chance, I committed myself to the task at hand! It's not always easy to see the light through the fog, but the risk vs. reward positivity is here!

    I worked at ooma full-time

    Pros

If you need a job and money, you might consider working here.

    Cons

I've never had to work with a team as rude as this one before. They're curt, stuffy, shallow-minded, and that makes collaborating, which is a heavy part of this role, a difficult task. No one says hello or offers parting words at the end of the day. The management speaks in grandiose terms, and you're left to develop entire departments yourself, even if that's what you were initially hired for. If you prefer a dull, call-center environment with micro-managing supervisors that lack vision and innovation, this might be for you.

    Advice to Management

There's a reason your product isn't gaining market share. Your internal values resonate to your customers.

I worked at ooma (Less than a year)

    Pros

A decent product that has much to offer offset by horrendous sales managers and sales policies and constantly changing commission structure.

    Cons

    1. People are brought on as contract employees with horrible benefits. Some get promoted to regular employee, but there is NO set standard and the requirements change as management sees fit with no communication or accountability.

    2. There is NO transparency. Sales managers are unaccountable and refuse to allow workers access to anyone in upper management. No phone numbers are provided, and if an email is sent, that is regarded as a fireable offense.

    3. Commissions change from month to month, sometimes even mid month and they are NEVER done so to benefit the reps.

    4. Training is minimal.

    5. Sales manager takes care of pet reps and allows everyone else to die on the vine. And if anyone objects, see #2.

    6. Sales managers talk to employees in condescending manner. Completely unmotivating.

    7. Dishonest marketing tools that are designed to mislead the customers.

    Advice to Management

Hire a sales staff instead of bringing on contractors who have no security. Grant access to upper management.
