I have been working at rue21 part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

At my first store in Alabama, I was promoted from seasonal, to part time associate, to assistant manager with a few months. My potential was seen, I was trained tremendously, and was told I'm gunna run my own store in a matter of a couple years.
Loved my boss, loved his boss. Everything made sense.

    Cons

I transferred to a Texas store and everything changed. Have had 4 different store managers and multiple ASMs to where I'm the longest standing employee of just two years in that store.
My potential has not been seen. Nobody follows the correct policies and procedures. Our store isn't even allotted enough hours to maintain proper shrink rates and keep our floor clean. So much pressure, horrible vibes. I've been part time for 3 years now. I'm finally leaving the company.

    Advice to Management

Be consistent. Make sure your DMs know how to do their job, and learn how to hire better store managers and TRAIN THEM PROPERLY! Give million dollar stores enough hours to maintain being a million dollar store, as well as prevent theft from customers AND employees. It's no wonder how the company had to overcome bankruptcy looking at how things are handled in my Texas area.

    I worked at rue21 full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - great discount
    - I personally loved our district manager
    - easy to promote
    - cute clothing

    Cons

    - fragrance pushing is intense
    - pay is crap
    - lots of tasking

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees. If you’re sick of having such a HIGH turnover rate, pay people to stay. If someone works hard to keep the store together, realize that. Sometimes paying more to help keep the store nice is better than letting good managers go elsewhere & letting the store turn to a hot mess.

    I worked at rue21 part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    -Good employee discount
    -Decent Hours
    -Never monotonous

    Cons

-Unorganized (they had me fill out training papers 5 months into the job)
    -High turnover rate
-The constant sale changes can get confusing especially with customers coming in and thinking they're getting a deal that changed yesterday

    Advice to Management

Give a proper training period. Though my manager wasn't trained properly himself. Also higher ups need to give the stores enough hours to actually be able to get what they need to done.

I have been working at rue21 full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Fun work environment
    Lots of opportunity for growth

    Cons

Worked with one very poor district manager who was very unprofessional, and would not give you a chance to ask questions. The only time she comes in is when she gets in trouble for not coming to my location, then only stays for about 20 minutes, without walking through the opportunities of the store
