I worked at tarte full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Resume worthy. Quality ingredients, some nice products.

    Cons

They don’t promote from within. Low pay compared to industry standards. No organization, no leadership, no structure. All decisions made on a whim. Low morale. No communication. Reactive rather than proactive.

    Advice to Management

Stop claiming we are all a family. This is a business. Act like one. Be professional. Stop behaving like this is a startup with 25 employees.

    Pros

-Great brand with a strong value system & integrity in terms of the type of products they produce -High quality product -Thriving, growing business -Leader in the market, but entrepreneurial spirit -Owned by a large company, but doesn't feel like it. -Founder is still very involved & wants the company to feel like a family. Cons

No clarity on roles or who exactly owns what. More hires= just more people sitting in a room vs. increased efficiency. People are scared to not be part of a conversation vs. feeling ok to not know something that is not their job. The other reviews that speak to the inner circle or clique are true and can be frustrating and difficult to navigate. However, if you show up to do your job & perform well, they won't...

    Advice to Management

Celebrate people, make them feel valued & give them the tools to develop. When someone is promoted it is whispered around the office, vs. proudly announced. Teams in general don’t know what they need to do to get to the next level. Let your team do their jobs and make decisions independently. Empower people or they will be unfulfilled and leave. Give the people that have grown within the company the tools to...

    Pros

*Free Makeup *Free coffee *Free Fruit *Nice office space

    Cons

Such a bad experience. I used to love working here and wanted to be hired full time from being a temp. Things changed under new management. A big time bully, fired everyone and didn't care. Treats everyone like a machine, so incredibly fake. It's awkward when she tries to be nice. People can tell it's not real. Tried to be nice only to fire people so no one would complain. The energy in the department is bad.

    Advice to Management

There is a reason why no one wants to stay in the department. Maybe do something about it, instead of letting the person in charge bully everyone. The company reputation is being dragged down because of this person.

I worked at tarte full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Fun company mixers, yearly holiday trip, benefits

    Cons

I can only speak for customer service as that is the department I was in. I'm truly amazed that HR hasn't cracked down on the manager for that department yet. Very obnoxious, loudly unfiltered, sales hungry, rude, and has zero common sense. She's been there since the summer and still doesn't know the basics. The "team lead" she bought in with her is also a mess. Also fighting with the other team lead LOUDLY in front of...

    Advice to Management

Learn how to speak to people. The things you say and the tones you use rub people the wrong way and that makes them annoyed with you. HR needs to get rid of her or seriously put her through some type of classes because she's ridiculous.
