I have been working at uShip full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Learning opportunities are huge - People care about software quality - Company is adopting new libraries and frameworks - Coworkers are nice - Lots of social events

    Cons

    - Can have a very "frat house" feel - Some coworkers don't pull their weight - Middle management structure is strange - Managers are starting to own planning and processes that used to be at the team's discretion

I worked at uShip for more than 3 years

    Pros

Free beer, ping pong, happy hours, all of that stuff that you would expect from an Austin startup. Designed to encourage you to stay longer

    Cons

Promotions are based on tenure Terrible management No communication between departments or with upper management Doesn't feel like anyone is actually working, or doing anything to actually help the company Its a 11 year old "start up" and feels like a frat house... I guess depending on who you are and what you are looking for, it could be perfect for you. If you are looking for a job that doesn't feel like a job, that pays almost enough to get by, where the best perk is free beer and ping pong, you may love it. I was there for 4 years and had a blast at the parties and meeting friends, but from a career stand point I can not recommend it.

I worked at uShip full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

At least when I worked there, it felt like a company that was heading for great things. I would think about what my stock options would buy me.

    Cons

Those stock options are worth nothing. How could they be when the leadership was more interested in creating a frat house than a company? It started with the founders (and one early employee) and continues. Some of my colleagues who left quickly have gone on to be the most successful. Meanwhile, HR was a joke and even engaged in things that any other HR organization would have looked down on.
