Glassdoor Economist Pay Overview

What is the pay outlook for Research & Science?

Research and science jobs offer pay well above the national average. Increased demand for STEM workers is increasing salaries in research and science. Jobs in these fields, however, often require higher education at the graduate level and/or specialized training. While domain-specific expertise gives workers in these fields access to very specialized jobs, there are also many employers who hire STEM workers for their general data and technology skills.

Compensation

EY

How common is it for an employer to pro-rate a salary increase if you joined in middle of the year? For context, annual raises are given out in July each year. I joined in January. Normally, I would be getting an 8% raise, but because I came in at about the half year mark, they giving me ~4%. My jaw about just dropped when big boss said this. I mean, inflation doesn't pro-rate. Thoughts on this?
