Curious to see what people think comp should be for my position. I raise equity from HNW individuals and PFOs on behalf of sponsors for real estate acquisitions/developments. We typically raise $5-$15mm/deal, do 4-6 deals/year, and charge a 3-5% fee on the equity raised. My role title is Real Estate Investment Banking Associate but I know this isn’t true IB. Located in a 2nd-3rd tier market but our project are all over (TX, FL, GA, NC, MN, etc)

Depending on your specialty, you can also consider the Certified Investment Management Analyst, the Chartered Market Technician, or the Certified Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis Professional certificates. Almost all investment banking associates have a bachelor's degree, but other education can push your pay toward the top of the scale. Do you love your current company, but want to make more? Maybe you want to find a new job as an investment banking associate, but don't know where to start. Either way, a good first step is to research your market rate. Once you know what you're worth, see how your current salary or that of new job postings compares to what you currently make. When negotiating for a higher salary, consider asking for at least 10% more than your current salary or above the amount you were offered in a new job, but that may change depending on how the current amount compares to the market rate.
