Close Salaries

I'm just going to say it... if you're a coworker who is not a close friend... I couldn't care less about your birthday. I don't care that you're engaged, pregnant, moving... I understand that pleasantries are important in creating a friendly work environment... but please get it together. Mid 40s coworker spent a full ten minutes talking about her plans for her mid October birthday in a meeting this week and no one stopped her. How is it acceptable to waste people's time like this?

Is it better to be terminated or to resign? Undergoing a data breach investigation which might end in termination but close to receiving an offer elsewhere. My Questions: 1. My contract says I must give the firm 3 months notice. 2. During this notice period, if the investigation outcome turns out negative, would I still be required to complete the notice period. 3. Help! I’m applying to Morgan Lewis and have two options: 1) direct apply or 2) ask a law school classmate I’m not really close to to submit for me. I’ve actually had two callbacks in the past with Morgan Lewis using direct apply (2018 and 2020), so I know they review their portal, but I just don’t want to draft a cover letter.

A family member accidentally opened a credit card in my name. I contacted the issuer and explained that it was not authorized and perhaps by mistake. They said they will close the account and let the credit bureaus know. Will a fraud alert be placed on my credit report by the bureaus by default? Or is that something I would personally have to request if I wanted it? Will they report my family member for opening the account?
