Mastering Leadership Challenge at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute What can Dana-Farber do to better retain its expert and caring workforce? How can the Institute increase collaboration across an organization that includes nearly 11,000 workforce members? Earlier this summer, leaders from across Dana-Farber — from Cell Manipulation Core Facilities to Ambulatory Clinic Operations, Supply Chain Operations, and Quality and Patient Safety — converged in the Longwood Center to present their answers to these complicated questions. Through four presentations — the results of three months of leadership training, growth, and research done as a part of the Mastering Leadership Challenge (MLC) -- participants pitched their ideas to a Dana-Farber panel consisting of Senior Vice President and Chief People Officer Heidi Conway, Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer Maria Megdal, Executive Vice President and Chief Finance and Business Strategy Officer Michael Reney, and Senior Vice President and Chief Communications and Marketing Officer Goldie Taylor. The day also served as a celebration for another class of MLC graduates. Karen Curley, director, Learning and Organizational Development, opened the session. “What you do as leaders matters,” she said and applauded the group for their adherence to Dana-Farber's core values of impact, excellence, compassion and respect, discovery, and equity and inclusion.
