Physical Therapy Aide

I currently work for the State of Illinois and they have an upward mobility program that would pay for my schooling and let me miss work for class. All I have to do is work for the state for 2 years after graduating. The only problem is that they don't offer PT as a position for the program which is my goal. Only other one I would consider would be nursing. Do you think it'd be a good idea to go through with nursing through the program and then go after PT? I'm 25 w/ bachelors in rehab sciences
