At a recent Company Meeting, we announced the recipients of one of our most meaningful accolades: the John Jenkins Award, named in honor of our longtime Corporate Office Services Manager, who passed away on September 11, 2001. John’s impact—on both our business and our culture—continues to resonate. More than 60 CRA colleagues have been honored with this peer-nominated award, which is given annually to the individual(s) who exemplify John’s team-first approach. To honor the 20th anniversary of this award, and in memory of John, we have made a donation to Tuesday’s Children, an organization that helps families impacted by war and mass violence. We also installed a plaque in our Boston headquarters with the names of past recipients. We are grateful to all of the nominees and honorees who contribute to the well-being of their colleagues and the firm as a whole, and in doing so keep John’s memory alive at CRA.

Whether you celebrate a particular holiday, like Christmas or Hannukah, or simply enjoy sipping a mug of hot cocoa in front of a toasty fire, we at CRA wish you a wonderful winter season brimming with abundant cheer. A BIG thank you to our team members for their dedication and hard work as well as our clients, partners and others who’ve continued supporting us during a challenging year. More than ever, CRA’s relationships give it a sleigh full of reasons to feel grateful and merry this season. May your holidays and new year be filled with health, peace and joy!

The holiday season is here, and we’d like to send a heartfelt greeting to everyone. A special thanks to our wonderful clients who—in spite of some unprecedented challenges—have made this an extraordinary, memorable year for all of us here at CRA. In the spirit of giving, we have made a donation to the Girl Up organization, which creates global opportunities for women everywhere. One of their most recent initiatives was SchoolCycle. Many girls across the world cannot attend school due to distance and lack of transportation. SchoolCycle provided them bicycles: 1,550 to girls in Malawi and 250 to girls in Guatemala. It warms us to see those in need receiving the help they deserve. CRA wholeheartedly applauds this initiative. We are honored to support the Girl Up mission as the organization works to globally improve the lives of girls and women, making the world a better place for all. We wish you and your loved ones peace and joy during the holidays and in the new year.

At CRA, our favorite present is the gift of giving. In that spirit, our Chicago office holds an annual holiday giving campaign. This year, we had the privilege of working with the Heartland Alliance, an organization that focuses on advancing human rights and dignity through providing services, including housing. Through them, CRA Chicago adopted two families. To support these families, our colleagues donated over 60 gifts, ranging from winter coats and boots to bedding and kitchen essentials—and toys too, of course. The families will also receive various gift cards. We are deeply honored to be able to make this holiday season more festive and warmer for two families in need. From our CRA family to yours, we wish everyone a peaceful and joyful holiday season.

We strongly believe that our success as a firm depends on having engaged and happy employees. From the moment someone joins our team, our goal is to give them the resources and tools they need to not only do their work (and do it well), but to expand their skillset and grow in their career. To that end, we’re pleased to announce our inclusion on Next Gen's 2021 list of top 100 companies that support and empower the next generation of talent. At CRA, we are continually creating programs and initiatives to not only recruit diverse and dynamic talent, but to keep it. We thank RippleMatch Next Gen 100 for recognizing our dedication to every member of our team, as we continue creating ways to support our team members on their career journeys.

On the heels of LGBTQIA+ history month, we wanted to do something to remind our team members that Pride isn’t about a single day, week or month. It’s about raising awareness and building community—day in, day out, and year by year. To that end, we’re making Pride-themed lanyards available to team members in our CRA offices. This photo was taken in our London office just last week. It’s a small gesture, but one we feel will help keep the critical issue of LGBTQIA+ rights on everyone’s minds.

Slowly but surely, things are returning to normal (a new normal, more accurately). No doubt, every organization—including ours—is thinking long and hard about what’s best for its people. Empathy, flexibility and innovation are key. We are meeting our team members where they are. We also appreciate the importance of being together. Of working side by side with our fellow colleagues—and our clients. Last week, our Brazil office hosted a “Get Together Week” to celebrate its return to on-site operations. It was a chance for work friends to reconnect; for colleagues to meet their newest team members; and for everyone to enjoy a little bit of togetherness. To us, the tee shirt says it all: “We Are Better Together.” As we open more offices, our intention—as ever—is to foster an agile, resilient, safe and collaborative workplace for each and all of our team members.

Last Tuesday, we had the honor of hosting Dr. Robert Rodriguez, President of DRR Advisors LLC, a diversity consulting firm, for a webinar-event about employee resource groups (ERG)—and how CRA is working to establish, evolve and implement them throughout our firm. Hosted live from our Chicago office and moderated by our Chief Inclusion and Engagement Officer, Raquel Tamez, this event drew a room-full and more than 100 colleagues virtually from all over the world, with the first 10 in-person participants receiving a signed copy of Robert’s new book. In addition to discussing current ERG trends and best practices, Robert offered some valuable advice on how we can ensure that all of our offices remain engaged through the power of ERGs—with an eye on strengthening our diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. On behalf of everyone at CRA, we want to thank Robert for his sharing his insights.
