We're sure you're getting tired of seeing zoom photos all over social media. Well we aren't! Culture is one of Cobec's core values, so we had to get creative in order to keep everyone engaged. Zoom Video Communications have been an integral part of not only keeping our client meetings running, but also keeping our employees sane💻. We've had weekly activities such as: yoga classes, a bake-a-long, a baby photo contest, science experiments for the kids, kickboxing, cross-fit, coffee education, daily virtual lunches & coffees, happy hours, the list goes on! We couldn't do it without everyone volunteering to lead these events, so thank you so much! A special shout out goes to Jenny Lampe for helping us zen out so much with her wonderful yoga classes 🧘🏻♀️🧁☕️🐝🦠🥊🏋🏾📷. How are you making sure your employees are engaged? We are always looking for fun ways to stay connected. Drop it in the comments below if you have a great idea! #onecobec #employeeengagement #culture #zoom
We are pleased to welcome Nick Celio to Cobec! Nick Celio was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio. He spent his youth traveling to airshows with his grandfather and developed a passion for aviation. Like his father and grandfather before him, his first job out of high school was in the mill. He worked the plant floor of Alcoa Titanium, providing titanium to the aerospace industry. Nick went on to receive his B.A in Economics from Youngstown State University where he focused on data analytics and foreign policy. In his early career, Nick worked for a number of non-profits specializing in Urban Planning in the post-industrial cities, Youngstown and Bridgeport, CT. At the city of Bridgeport, he managed the Anti-Blight department targeting absentee land owners and banks using data analysis and employed a workflow process to increase impact and efficiencies. In his spare time, Nick plays numerous instruments and travels extensively (abroad when time allows). He owns a vintage ’87 Toyota Dolphin RV that he takes on hiking trips whenever there is a weekend to spare and it starts.
A day of remembrance for those who lost their lives and for those who gave their lives. We remember and will never forget.
Happy Labor Day! Today, we celebrate the hardworking men and women of our country! This past weekend, Cobec employees floated down the Shenandoah River and enjoyed a nice picnic at Harper’s Ferry. We appreciate our employees for their tireless contributions to the prosperity of our nation and we hope everyone enjoys their much-deserved time off this labor day.
What if you could ask the CEO of your company anything? Cobec Consulting employees recently had the opportunity to ask the CEO, Michael Paul, any question they wanted in an anonymous format. On August 14, Kellie Scarbrough, one of Cobec's lead consultants and now ICEAA Region 5 Director, hosted a Lunch & Learn Webinar for the ICEAA general community. Over 30 attendees from North America were in the audience to hear Sheila Dennis, Cobec's Senior Cost Consultant, use her wealth of experience to provide insight into "Why Can't We Estimate Better?" With a focus on software estimation and modeling, they discussed some of the more common issues facing cost professionals today and possible solutions for mitigation. It was an excellent webinar and we hope to see everyone at the next one to discuss future topics! If you weren’t able to attend, you can listen to the webinar here. #onecobec #cobecconsulting #lunchandlearn #iceaa #region5 #estimate #costestimators #webinar http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vM4j3
“Houston we have a problem...” Yes they do. Last week, Team Cobec invaded the 2019 NASA Cost and Schedule Symposium in Houston, TX! Leah Walker, Bryan Anderson, Marina Sominsky, David Rose, and Keith Robertson all presented papers at this year’s event. Leah and Bryan kicked off Cobec’s presentations. Their awesome paper titled “Houston, We Have a Resource Problem” was a crowd favorite, as Bryan’s jokes had the crowd in an uproar of laughter. Keith presented on the preliminary results of our Task Order to update NASA’s New Start Inflation Index with our teammate from QCI, Susanna Reedy. David and Marina co-presented two papers titled “Reporting Tool Primavera P6 Visualizer” and “Changing Lenses.” A huge thank you goes to NASA for organizing such a great symposium!
Cobec Senior Consultant, Marina Sominsky, EIT, PMP, PSP, attended the Southwest Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives' (SWAAE) 73rd Annual Summer Conference in Tucson, Arizona. This year's theme was "Back to the Future", and the welcome reception kicked off with a performance by a traditional mariachi band over the Arizonan sunset. Following the reception, attendees enjoyed a program where innovative thinkers across the region discussed the consistent transformation of airports. One of Marina's highlights at the conference was the interview and book signing with Dan Pedersen, founder of the Navy Top Gun training program. It was a great opportunity for Cobec to continue networking and building relationships with the aviation community. Thank you SWAEE! #SWAAE #cobecconsulting #arizona #aviation #onecobec #networking #conferencemode #networking
