How is Continental positioning itself with regards to sustainability and what about the automotive industry in general? Find the answers in our Continental Magazine:
Passenger car tires made from PET bottles! By 2050 at the latest, we want to successively use 100 percent sustainably produced materials in our tire products. Together with OTIZ, we have found a way to produce high-strength fibers from recycled PET bottles. With the new process, which we plan to use in tire production from 2022, we could use more than 60 recycled PET bottles for a complete set of vehicle tires in the future.
We rely on the knowledge of our employees – and the share and transfer of this knowledge among them. If one of the employees gets a new job or retires, it is important to keep the expertise in the team. Nevertheless, the professional experience gained over many years cannot be squeezed into a Word file. It takes several steps to ensure a sustainable knowledge transfer. In this direction, we have built up a moderated process by which our employees can pass on their expertise, called the “Leaving Expert Debriefing” (LED). The method is a decisive step on the way to making the individually acquired treasure trove of knowledge and experience available to successors within the company. Learn from the testimonial carousel below how different colleagues experience this process:

Our heart beats for innovation. Once again, our contribution to a smart and sustainable mobility of the future has been recognized. The Automotive Innovations Award is presented every year by the Center of Automotive Management, and is based on the scientific evaluation of our industry’s most innovative achievements. Out of 300 innovations, our solutions made it to the top of the ranking: Our Turn Assist System, designed to make trucks safer and save lives, impressed the expert jury and wins the “Automated Driving” category, while our MultiViu Compact display and ContiSeal technology placed second in their respective categories. We would like to thank our great employees behind these technologies! This award is your award!
At Continental, we empower employees to shape the future of mobility, to be an active part of the modern working world and transforming the automotive industry. Thus, we offer access to trainings around Artificial Intelligence (AI) and encourage every employee to invest some of their time in becoming familiar with AI and develop new skills. How can our colleagues master the digital transformation and become AI talents? Our “AI Talent Initiative” and “Software Academy” programs are part of this journey. Learn more:

To embed diversity even further into our company culture, to cherish multiple perspectives in our daily work and to embrace the enormous potential that diversity offers in all our projects, we are organizing a new series of LGBT*IQ awareness sessions (thanks PROUT AT WORK-Foundation for the great support!). The virtual workshops are open to all our employees and two events have already taken place. Over 650 colleagues shed a light on today’s situation of LGBT*IQ people at work, consequently reflecting on unconscious bias and stigma. Participants were equipped with a set of easy steps how everyone can contribute to a respectful environment and culture, especially for LGBT*IQ. The session was wrapped up with a question & answer round, where practical situations could be discussed in detail. Two other workshops are planned for the second half of the year. We are already looking forward!
