Today, we announced the reopening of our Dollar General store in Porter, Oklahoma after having to close it down last year due to a fire. This store was an important part of the community and over the past few months, we worked with United States Senator Jim Inhofe and town leaders to rebuild it and bring back an expanded Dollar General to the city. As we open the doors to this store once more, we are also presenting $10,000 in local donations, comprised of a $5,000 donation to the Porter Fire Department and a $5,000 donation to Porter Consolidated Schools. We’re committed to continue #ServingOthers and being a good corporate neighbor to our local communities.

This week’s featured act of DG Kindness is from Crystal in Texas! Tina is a kindergarten teacher at an elementary school and a regular customer. Tina shops at Crystal’s store to buy classroom supplies and loves the clearance section deals. One day, Tina did not have enough money to pay for her school supplies. In the true spirit of Serving Others, Crystal purchased the items for the classroom. A few days later, Tina visited the store with a special delivery of letters written by her students.
