In an effort to help those helping so many, we are partnering with Dr. Jennifer Delaney of Washington University in St. Louis, John Burroughs School, and PASCO Systems to provide engineering and manufacturing resources to build Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPRs) for health care providers on the frontlines. According to Dr. Delaney, 30 percent of health care workers who wear N-95 masks get infected with COVID-19 and PAPRs will help drastically reduce this number. Dr. Delaney developed the idea to build PAPRs from recycled CPAP machine motors and worked with the technical department of John Burroughs High school to design and to build the first prototype with the help of Pasco Systems. A team from Hunter Engineering has been working with Dr. Delaney to streamline a manufacturing process and are working hard to convert the steady stream of donated CPAP machines into PAPRs. Thank you Dr. Delaney, Washington University, the John Burroughs team, Pasco Systems, and the engineers from our team. Thank you to all health care workers on the frontlines who continue to battle COVID-19.
