International Women’s Day is a celebration of the progress made towards achieving gender equality and women’s empowerment, but also serves as a time to critically reflect on those accomplishments and strive towards gender equality worldwide. As a woman-owned organization, Kenco recognizes and values the talent, knowledge, and contributions of women as they serve as leaders in our company as well as in their communities and families. Last March, Kenco launched KWIC (Kenco Women Igniting Change), our Women’s Employee Resource Group (ERG). KWIC’s mission is to cultivate and sustain an environment where women thrive at Kenco and are enabled to advance their skills and leadership potential by both men and women partnering together to bridge the gender gap through connection, development and discussion. This year, the focus is on “Breaking the Bias.” Bias, whether deliberate or unconscious, makes it difficult for women to move ahead. It’s not enough to be aware of the bias…action is needed to level the playing field. If we all work together, we can create a world free of bias.

How do you justify costs associated with automation? The volatile supply chain has altered the way we value and justify automation investments in the eCommerce landscape. The question was usually, "How fast can I make my money back?" so it was hard to justify automation that didn't run around the clock. This has now shifted due to different drivers besides cost justification. Kenco's Felix Vicknair, Sr Director Supply Chain Solutions, examines three ways to see returns on eCommerce automation investments in this week's blog.

Last week marked the beginning of Black History Month, a celebration of Black people from all periods of U.S. history. It serves as a time to listen and learn, to educate ourselves on the contributions of Black leaders, activists and trailblazers, from well-known figures like Martin Luther King, Jr. and Rosa Parks to those less recognizable who have made sizeable contributions in every area of American life. It’s also a time to celebrate the resiliency of the Black community and the countless everyday heroes who have quietly and steadily dedicated their lives to change, chipping away at obstacles time and time again and paving the way for the ones coming after. Kenco’s LIFT ERG also wants to recognize the unsung Black heroes who have made an impact in the lives of our Kenco associates: the mothers, fathers, grandparents, teachers, pastors, coaches, and other mentors who have inspired, encouraged and sacrificed for the good of others.
KENCO HONORS THE LEGACY OF MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. On the 3rd Monday of each January, the U.S. sets aside the day to honor the life and work of civil rights leader, the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. King’s dream was for all people to enjoy the benefits of equality and for America to embrace the diversity of its people. He was crucial in bringing about such landmark legislation as the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. While the work of Dr. King and other leaders made significant progress towards equality, the push for civil rights continues today. His legacy and non-violent approach informs and inspires those dedicated to the ongoing work of seeking racial, economic and social justice. At Kenco, we are also inspired by Dr. King on our own journey for greater diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Through our Diversity & Inclusion initiatives, including our three Employee Resource Groups, we are committed to becoming a place where all employees, regardless of race, culture, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or life experience, feel a sense
