Fun fact: our CEO started at Kimpton as one of our hotel general managers 23 years ago and has been a champion of our award-winning workplace culture ever since. Fast Company interviewed Mike DeFrino for their “Secrets of the Most Productive People” podcast. He shares his tips on growing your teams from within, the importance of trust and where yogurt falls into the mix in the spectrum of workplace perks.

Please join us in saying ‘Hola’ to the stunning @kimptonvividora. Located in the heart of the Ciutat Vella district, it’s only a short walk to Las Ramblas, La Barceloneta Beach, La Boqueria and some of the most legendary culinary spots in Barcelona. The hotel pulls inspiration from the vast community of modern creatives in the Gothic Quarter, along with design details drawn from the historical aesthetics of the old city. With three culinary spaces, in-house artist and music programming, and a roof-top pool overlooking the city… and your credit card is out. Well, you can’t say we didn’t warn you.
It’s incredibly humbling to be able to say year after year “We’ve made Fortune Magazine’s 100 Best Companies to Work For list!” And wouldn’t you know, it’s that time of year again. We’re proud to share that for the 11th year, we’re sitting pretty on the coveted list (we clocked in at #10), thanks to feedback from our employees about what it’s like to work at Kimpton. So if you work for Kimpton and you’re reading this, we want to say thank you. Kimpton is Kimpton because of you. #kimptonlove #100bestcos
There’s no place like home. There’s no place like home. There’s...oh hi. Don’t mind us, we’re just beyond excited because we’re heading back to our hometown of San Francisco in 2020, where we’ll be putting our roots down in the lively heart of Fisherman’s Wharf. And if you think this iconic waterfront neighborhood is all bread bowl chowder and vociferously vocal sea lions, think again. As locals we have the inside scoop on the hidden gems among the less-traveled paths of this popular destination (link in bio). So make a splash in the Bay, make your way through a psychedelic labyrinth, or make short work of a glass of local Cab on a pier-side patio, but make it soon. Oh, and we see you've noticed that we’re enjoying all that dipping, tripping and sipping while rocking a pair of shimmering ruby slippers. Well don’t worry; in the anything-goes city of San Francisco, we fit right in.
“Best New Seafood Spot of the Year,” “A Seafood Restaurant for the Non-Seafood Crowd,” and “South Florida’s Buzziest New Brunch” are just a few titles our newest restaurant, @seawellmiamibeach, has already snagged. Located in Miami’s scene-y South Beach neighborhood, it’s the perfect spot to stop for any dish, but we’ve heard the Lobster Poutine, Baked Oysters Bingo, and one of “Miami’s 13 Essential Burgers” are must-eats. Oh, and don’t forget to wash it down with one of their “surprisingly inventive cocktails” 😉
The expression “a picture is worth a thousand words” has never been more relevant. We’re proud to announce our partnership with Fotografiska New York, the celebrated photography institution founded in Stockholm, with a mission to “inspire a more conscious world.” We share a lot of common values with Fotografiska. Together, we’re exploring the ways rich, diverse stories bring us together: stories that remind us how we’re all connected, no matter our backgrounds. Our partnership includes a multi-city, pop-up installation where three female photographers look at what it means to Stay Human in modern times. The installation premiered at Fotografiska’s gleaming new six-story New York City outpost. This January – August, it’ll tour 6 U.S. cities and will be on display at Kimpton Hotels. Art lovers, photography aficionados and the culturally curious – we invite you to join us in these shared spaces and view this special collection of photographs.
This is your reminder to take a deep breath. That’s it… breathe in, breathe out. We know the world is fast-paced. That’s why our #StayHumanProject rooms are in full swing at our Europe properties until the end of January. Connect with other guests through shared plants at the @kimptondewitt, work the in-room-loom at @kimptoncharlottesquare, fill the gap with shared experiences at the @kimptonfitzroy, and show some kindness at @kimptonblythswoodsquare. We can’t think of a better way to begin a decade (woah) by slowing down and experiencing true human connection by #StayingHuman
The day her son Nico was born, Valerie knew something was wrong. Four months later she was told the official diagnosis: craniosynostosis. Nico had no soft spot in his skull to allow his brain to grow and would need major skull revision surgery at just six months old. Two weeks before his surgery was scheduled, Valerie faced another hurdle. Due to Nico’s rare blood type, she’d need to find a compatible donor within a few days or the surgery would have to be postponed. This news was given to her as she was walking in for a shift at @paccisavannah Italian Kitchen at the Kimpton @bricehotel. Frantic and upset, her coworkers agreed to find out their blood-types and donate if they could. It turned out Shannon was a match. Today Nico is healthy and happy after a rapid recovery due to the bravery of both mom Valerie and her selfless friend Shannon. It’s moments like these that remind us it’s not just design, amenities or restaurants — but the people that make Kimpton, Kimpton. #kimptonstories
It’s all fun and games until… wait, scratch that ‘until’ because it really is all fun and games at the Kimpton Journeyman Hotel First, the fun comes while buzzing around downtown Milwaukee exploring it’s famous brewery scene while noshing on some quintessentially Wisconsin-y fare. Watch out cheese curds, we’re lookin’ at you. Then, the games take place in the lobby billiards room, but fair warning you might have to set your craft beer down for that (only while you shoot, calm down). We just can’t wait until we see you again, Milwaukee… we knew that ‘until’ belonged somewhere.
We’re shaking things up in our founding city — and we’re not just talking drinks (but obviously those too). Allow us to introduce the re-imagined San Francisco icon, Lizzie’s Starlight (previously known as the Starlight Room) opening today. Residing above the cable cars on the top floor of the Kimpton Sir Francis Drake Hotel, you’ll find 360-degree views of San Francisco, luxurious Elizabethan style decor, and a whimsical new menu. The design of the space plays homage to its original 1920s opening with exposed brick and clay tiles, but has modern upgrades like oak wood floors, clean white interiors and extended windows (we told you, #views). So stop by the next time you’re in The City because Lizzie's Starlight is sure to shake things up for you too… or stir them... hey, it’s your drink you can have it however you want.
