Behind the Scenes in the Call Center

The line crackles and scratches. It's loud and I wince as it catches me off guard. I adjust my headset and look sideways at Kevin "Nuchi" Xiong, a Senior Individual Customer Service Representative, but he doesn't flinch. A couple of seconds later, a woman's voice comes on the line.

  • “Working at Premera gives me that opportunity to be an advocate for someone else.”

  • University of Washington student Leana Nakkour stopped by our booth, just like many other UW students, to talk with our Recruiting team and pick up some swag. She didn't realize that she would use that swag, a first aid kit, later that day. She shared with us what happened next…

"Later that day I got on the bus to go home and it was at one of the last stops in University District that a woman collapsed while getting on the bus. She totally missed the curb when stepping and hit her head – either on the bus or the sidewalk, I'm not sure – and a UW medical student rushed out to help her. The bus driver didn't have any first aid materials so when the student rushed back on the bus asking if anyone had a first aid kit, guess who was the only one who did? The woman's forehead was swollen, but thankfully she was alright and only needed a few bandaids. Still, Premera saved the day!"

The Recruiting team will be on campuses around the state this fall. In fact, the team is at Western Washington University today meeting with future Premera interns and employees.

  • Premera’s team raised over $50,000 for the American Heart Association | American Stroke Association’s 2017 Puget Sound Heart & Stroke Walk on Saturday. It was a beautiful fall morning to support a great cause!

  • This summer Premera introduced an updated brand to match our purpose and values, starting with a week-long celebration with employees at all three of our offices. This fall you’ll see the new brand on billboards, radio, and TV spots. We hope you enjoy it!

  • More than 400 Premera employees marched in the 2017 Seattle Pride Parade to support our LGBTQ community.
