    [CES 2019] SK hynix CEO out to win carmakers as major customers

    LAS VEGAS -- SK hynix CEO Lee Seok-hee expressed his determination to expand into the emerging market for automotive memory chips ahead of the Consumer Electronics Show on Jan. 7. Upon his arrival in Las Vegas the newly appointed head of the chip giant told The Korea Herald that his company is eying the growth potential of the automotive semiconductor business and plans to expand its presence in the market.

    2018 review and 2019 outlook: Memory long-term outlook remains bright

    Memory chipmakers had a good year in 2018, but the outlook for 2019 is marred by uncertainties arising from the US-China trade war and concerns about over-supply. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix have already made moves to avoid over-reliance on the memory market, eyeing new business opportunities for growth in the non-memory sector which accounts for over 50% of the overall semiconductor market.
