SSOE is a proud sponsor for the 21st annual LCI Congress, which takes place October 14th through 18th in Fort Worth, Texas. An LCI member since 2015, SSOE leverages Lean tools and strategies with a goal of defining and delivering a collective vision of success on projects by eliminating waste, compressing schedules, lowering cost, and improving satisfaction. Employees from various levels of our organization will be in attendance to gain insight on how to bring additional value to our clients on projects through our full range of delivery solutions.
LTU students: we’ll be in Southfield, Michigan on Thursday, September 19th for Lawrence Technological University’s Fall Career Fair. We’re proud to have LTU alumni representing more than 25% of our architectural discipline, and will have fellow LTU grad Tony Sabat, Project VDC / BIM Specialist, on hand to share the benefits of a co-op / internship and career with SSOE.
SSOE Group recognized as a Top 100 Green Buildings Design Firm for more than a decade and a Top 5 Green Buildings Design Firm in Manufacturing and Industrial by industry-leading publication ENR. Our LEED portfolio has grown to represent a value of more than $1 billion and includes the world’s first LEED Platinum automotive assembly plant.
SSOE's Mark LaBell talks through how quality control and support technology is key to maximizing the value of laser scanning in this Engineering News-Record article. Within, he also highlights how we delivered significant time savings (that turned into cost savings for our clients) on a couple recent projects using the cutting-edge technology that is now transitioning to universal adoption.
Earlier this week, we joined our client La-Z-Boy and partner Rudolph Libbe for the grand opening and ceremonial ribbon cutting of their new $16 million R&D facility in Dayton, Tennessee. Called the La-Z-Boy Innovation Center, the 70,000 SF facility sits across the street from the furniture maker’s largest manufacturing plant and houses a model shop, technology center, test lab, and 3D printing lab and will provide a flexible workplace environment for nearly 80 employees.
Our team delivered an architectural design that is reflective of La-Z-Boy’s Michigan headquarters, while also providing various engineering services, steel detailing, interior design, and more. In addition, the facility is on track for LEED Silver certification—an exciting prospect that will allow us to add on to our billion-dollar portfolio of LEED-certified projects.
Our BIM2Fab® Steel team in Mumbai is gearing up for a project that will soon keep them very busy, providing structural engineering and steel detailing services for a large material-handling equipment supplier to one of our automotive manufacturing clients. To prepare for the influx in workload, we took an opportunity to take a load off and team build before project kick-off, enjoying a few entertaining billiard games during lunch. Chetan and Brijesh finished first in pool, while Sumit walked away with top honors in foosball.
Attention UAB Blazers: SSOE Recruitment Specialist Rachel Tucker and Civil Engineer (and UAB alum!) Hunter Finklea will be at the Hill Student Center Ballroom tomorrow, September 10th, for the Engineering Fall Kickoff and Career Fair. Our Southeast U.S. presence continues to grow, and we’re looking for the best and brightest to work on projects that make an impact. The event will be a great opportunity for students to learn about our Co-op / Internship Program and the benefits of a career with SSOE.
United as one, we change the story of many. This week was our corporate-wide United Way Campaign kick-off. To ramp things up, CEO-elect Vince DiPofi reminded employees of SSOE’s tradition of giving—not just by way of charitable contributions, but by donating our time and talents to the communities where we live and work. The campaign continues through the month, with events that include a STEM Kit Build, Dunk-a-CEO, Giant Trike Races, and our annual raffle.
Putting our experts to the test: recently, the American Academy of Healthcare Interior Designers (AAHID) decided to update their rigorous Certified Healthcare Interior Designer® exam. Because of her experience in residential healthcare and support facility design, the organization turned to SSOE’s Jennifer Hrosko, Senior Interior Designer who is herself certified by AAHID.
Jennifer joined a small team of experts responsible for writing and reviewing the new exam format. Collectively, the team was able to develop over 250 questions in an aggressive 3 months.
