Situated in the Eastern Foothills of the Valle de la Ermita, on the outskirts of Guatemala City, the new U.S. Embassy in Guatemala emphasizes a commitment to sustainable design and the preservation of Guatemala's diverse ecosystem. When completed, the 9.4-acre site will absorb water runoff by utilizing rooftop gardens and green spaces that consist of native Guatemalan foliage. The design also integrates energy conservation measures that will allow the building to reduce energy consumption by 30%. This project marks a $100 million investment in the economy of Guatemala and the creation of roughly 2,600 jobs.
