Every Yelp employee deserves a workplace where everyone can be their full and authentic selves, and our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) play an important role in creating a sense of belonging. We launched our first ERG in 2014. In our 2020 Diversity Report we share that we now have 37 ERGs – comprising nearly half (46%) of Yelp’s employee population – providing key insights and support for employees, as Yelp continues to make strides in becoming a diverse and inclusive workplace where anyone can belong and thrive. Read our full 2020 Diversity Report to find out how Yelp ERGs make a positive impact for every Yelp employee,.
When we set out to increase diverse representation at all levels of our organization, we started by focusing our efforts and energy into diverse hiring, equitable promotion practices, and operationalizing inclusion. Our 2020 Diversity Report shows that while we still have more work to do, our efforts are having a positive impact within our organization. This year, we’ve continued holding individual department heads accountable for the growth of representation in their organization, and created a new executive task force to prioritize and address the systemic changes that are needed across the company. Yelp Recruiting teams have also piloted a successful diverse slate approach to our interview processes that will be expanded to the entire organization in the coming year. Check out our full 2020 Diversity Report to learn about the rest of our initiatives and key metrics.

Our mission to connect consumers with great local businesses is more important now than ever. In partnership with the Office of the California Governor, it?s our priority to continue supporting businesses and consumers as we all navigate this health crisis together. In June, businesses could communicate directly with consumers on Yelp about their current operations and the health and safety precautions they?re taking. Watch the latest announcement from the Office of California Governor Gavin Newsom.
Our CEO Jeremy Stoppelman sat down with Nilay Patel and Casey Newton on The Verge's Vergecast podcast to talk about how Yelp is weathering the "crazy rollercoaster" of COVID-19 and the quick steps we took to support local businesses.
