Thirteen of Glassdoor’s 25 Highest Paying Jobs in America for 2018 are tech jobs, more than any other profession and up from 11 in 2017. There are five health care jobs on the list, down from six in 2017, including the top three, Physician (No. 1, $195,842), Pharmacy Manager (No. 2, $146,412) and Pharmacist (No. 3, $127,120). Eight job titles are new this year, including Strategy Manager (No. 18, $101,754), Cloud Engineer (No. 23, $96,449) and Data Scientist (No. 25, $96,116). Nurse Practitioner (No. 9, $106,962) has the highest number of current job openings with 14,931 positions.

“The fact that employers are paying top dollar for many tech and health care jobs reinforces how demand for these valuable skillsets continues to outpace the supply of talent with these expertises,” said Glassdoor Economic Research Analyst Amanda Stansell. “We know that salary matters a lot to job seekers when determining where to work, but it should not be the only factor to consider. We’ve found that company culture and values, career opportunities and trust in senior leadership matter most when it comes to keeping employees satisfied in their jobs long-term.”

Glassdoor is now the No. 2 job site in the U.S.(2), featuring all of the latest jobs online paired with more than 42 million reviews and insights for over 800,000 employers.(3) Over 55 million unique users visit Glassdoor’s mobile applications and website monthly.(4) Among those surveyed, 4 in 5 (83 percent) Glassdoor users say they come to search and/or apply to jobs.(5)

Methodology: For a job title to be considered for Glassdoor’s 25 Highest Paying Jobs in America report, job titles must receive at least 100 salary reports shared by U.S.-based employees over the past year (7/1/17 – 6/30/18). To ensure the most reliable median base salary for all job titles, Glassdoor also applies a proprietary statistical algorithm to estimate annual median base pay, which controls for factors such as location and seniority. The number of job openings per job title represents active job listings on Glassdoor as of 7/19/18. This report takes into account job title normalization that groups similar job titles. C-suite level jobs were excluded from this report.
