6 Signs You’re in the Perfect Job
“Perfect” is a bit of a misnomer. Even if you land your absolute dream job, you’ll still have days when you come home exhausted, stressed, and desperate for the weekend. That’s just the nature of having a job. So how do you know if you’re in the job that’s right?
Here are 6 signs.Start Slideshow
Studies have shown that one of the most important aspects to cultivate in a job is a state of continuous learning. When you stop feeling like you’re learning, that’s when you know it may be time to re-evaluate your role. However, if your company offers learning & development opportunities like mentorship or skills classes, participate in them and flourish.
You have a healthy work-life balance
A healthy work-life balance is key! Not only does it help you enjoy the day-to-day of the job, but it helps with your career longevity. Burnout is no joke, and you should avoid it at all costs. Take a moment to ask yourself, “Am I feeling symptoms of burnout?” If the answer is “No”, keep doing what you’re doing!
You don’t dread going into the office
The Sunday Scaries are normal, but if Sunday nights are filled with complete and total dread, that’s not a good sign. If, come Monday morning, you’re feeling ready and energized to tackle the day ahead, you’re in good shape.
You like the people you work with
Think about all the time you spend with your coworkers. It’s a lot of time. Of course, there will be people you don’t click with, but if you find yourself surrounded by sharp, curious, and hard-working individuals, chances are you’ll feel more inspired at your own job.
There are clear opportunities for growth
What good is your current job if you don’t have a path for growth? There’s nothing positive that comes from feeling stagnant or “stuck” in a role. Do you have a clear understanding of what upward movement would mean for you? And do you know what you need to accomplish in order to be promoted? If the answer is “Yes,” things are looking good for advancement opportunities.
You have a great boss
Your boss can make or break your job. A great boss can transform an average role into a great job, and a toxic boss can make a dream job feel like the worst thing that ever happened. A good boss is good for both the employee and company. Effective bosses improve company performance and can make your life easier. As the article says, “...teaching and learning are the essence of an effective boss/employee relationship. Good bosses don’t just crack the whip or deliver a pep talk, they deliver concrete improvements in workers’ ability to get the job done.”
