Glassdoor, a jobs and career community, looked at 50 of Arizona’s largest employers (based on the number of people they employ within the state) to find out what it’s like to work at these companies from those on the inside – the employees.
Highlights Among Arizona’s Biggest Companies:
- Highest Rated Employers: Southwest Airlines (4.3), Intel (3.5), American Express (3.5), Costco Inc. (3.5), FedEx Corp. (3.5), Starbucks Coffee (3.5) (Ratings based on a 5-point scale; 5.0=very satisfied, 1.0=very dissatisfied)
- Companies Headquartered in AZ: Though no companies headquartered in Arizona crack the top 10, Go Daddy, based in Scottsdale, ranks highest (#11 overall) with a 3.3 rating (Go Daddy is not ranked in the top 10, due to higher CEO approval ratings at other companies sharing a 3.3 rating.)
- Think Bigger Is Better? Not always true. While Wal-Mart is Arizona’s largest employer with approximately 30,000 employees statewide, the retail giant receives a 2.7 rating. Plus, Phoenix-based Banner Health, Arizona’s second largest employer with more than 28,000 employees, only receives a 2.8 rating. Interestingly, Southwest Airlines is Arizona’s 35th largest employer, but it rates highest among employees, with its 4.3 rating.
Curious what makes these companies standout among employees? Here’s what several Arizona-based employees had to say:
