10 Employees Who Should Ask For A Pay Raise Today

Outdoor barbecues, jet skis and boogie boards, tanning by the pool, vacations to exotic beaches — some of the best activities that summer has to offer. And this summer, Americans should add one more activity to the must-do list: salary negotiations.

Huh?!

Yes, that’s correct. According to the Glassdoor Local Pay Reports, now is the perfect time to as for a raise for some of America’s key careers. The annual median base pay in the United States grew 2.1 percent since last year to $51,159. However, there are a handful of jobs in which pay has increased the most (more than 2x faster the national average pay growth of 2.1%) since last year.

At the top of the list of occupations that saw the biggest pay gains since 2016? Recruiters.

The U.S. is near full employment which means that to fill open roles, recruiters have to be much more strategic and skilled to poach talent from other companies. Gone are the days when there were so many unemployed people that recruiters could easily find and place talent. Now, skilled recruiters who know how to score the best talent are in high demand by companies nationwide.

“Great recruiters know how to find and entice the right candidates for open positions, it is something of an art. Having an eye for screening candidates and good judgment about who will or will not work for a position is becoming an increasingly valuable skill in a tight labor market,” says Glassdoor chief economist Dr. Andrew Chamberlain.

Being in high demand means that it’s the perfect time to renegotiate your salary, recruiters. Capitalize on the big year-over-year pay growth, and go to Know Your Worth to get a customized salary estimate based on your title, company, location and experience. Print it out and negotiate today.

Here are 9 other employees and occupations who have had significant wage growth over the past year. Bank tellers, nurses, warehouse associates,  head to Know Your Worth to find out if you’re paid fairly.
