“Basemakers is a service-based business,” Savage said. “That being the case, we know that everything rises and falls on our people. Savage attributes the successful growth of the company to the people who have helped build it.

“We believe that our company has multiplied over time because we’ve focused on hiring leaders. Our Rocky Mountain Area Manager, Alex, calls himself the ‘CEO of the Rockies.’ Nothing makes me happier than knowing our team members are taking ownership of their regions. Every one of them does.”

Basemakers’ culture is driven by strong communication (expect weekly team calls led by area and regional managers) and an emphasis on personal growth (each team member receives one free book per month to improve their understanding of sales, business, and leadership). The company encourages team outings and hosts annual team summits at beach houses in San Diego.
