What is a Food Runner?

A food runner is responsible for delivering the food from the kitchen to a customer in a restaurant. They are responsible for ensuring that each customer receives the correct order. A few of the main duties of a food runner are handing the order to the chef, double checking orders, matching the food ticket to the customer, and refilling customer's drinks. They also have to answer any questions a customer may have. Some of the jobs titles that a food runner could grow into are restaurant manager and server.

A food runner does not need to have any experience but a high school diploma is preferred. One of the most important skills that a food runner will have is attention to detail. Another skill is organization as the food runner will have to be able to keep food orders matched to the correct customer.
