Whether you’re new to Glassdoor or brushing up on how to maximize Glassdoor for your company, this guide will teach you how to get the most from our Employer Center and the millions of job seekers visiting Glassdoor around the world every day.
You’ll discover there’s a lot you can do in the Employer Center. If you’re just getting started with Glassdoor, we recommend beginning with Part 1, a Quick-Start Guide to focus on high-impact features. If you want a more in-depth overview of the functionality of the Employer Center, refer to Part 2.
Part 1: Quick-Start Guide
10 to-dos and you’ll be on your way to building your optimized Glassdoor Profile.
#1. Set Up Your Account – [2 min. to complete]
- Log in to your Employer Center.
- If you don’t have an account yet, click “Sign up for a Free Employer Account”.
- You can also access your Employer Center by visiting your company’s Glassdoor profile and clicking “Go to Employer Center”.
#2. Verify Your Basic Company Info – [3 min. to complete]
Our Technical Services team has given you a head start by populating your profile with content from your website. Please review and update to ensure your basic info is accurate such as your website, headquarters, logo, company mission and benefits.
Top 5 pieces of information job seekers want:1
- Details on salary and compensation
- Details on benefits
- Details on what makes the company an attractive place to work
- Basic company information (locations, number of employees, revenue, industry, competitors, etc.)
- Company mission, vision & values
#3. Add Photo and Video – [5 min. to complete]
Your cover photo is the first image a job seeker will see when visiting your profile and when clicking on one of your open roles. It invites the job seeker in and provides an image to represent your company culture. You can also make your cover photo a video, and we will overlay a play button to make it more engaging.
The best photos show off your employees, office space and culture. Showcase your day-to-day activities as well as your special occasions like company picnics, community service days, costume contests and birthday celebrations. Use photos to give your ideal candidate a glimpse into your company so they can picture themselves as an employee.
#4. Feature a Review and Interview Review – [2 min. to complete]
Featuring a review and interview review gives you the control to showcase what it’s like to work or interview at your company. They are the first reviews that job seekers will see when landing on your profiles.
#5. Set Up Targeted Companies – [3 min. to complete]
The Targeted Companies feature enables you to promote your company on the profiles of your competitors, increasing your exposure and driving job seekers to your profile. You can select companies whose talent you want to target. Your company will show up on the target companies’ profile in the “Other Companies to Explore” panel.
Note: You cannot target other Glassdoor clients. We recommend targeting companies that your candidates are looking at, which you can do by enabling Auto Selected targets.
#6. Customize Your 5 ‘Why Work For Us’ Tabs – [1 hour to complete]
Your ‘Why Work For Us’ section on Glassdoor is your opportunity to show job seekers, investors and competitors what your company is all about. It’s a living version of your Employer Value Proposition. You can customize up to five tabs with images and video to show future employees what makes you different. Our team has created a few tabs for you using content from your website, but be sure to build all five tabs to get the most out of your Enhanced Profile and attract top candidates.
#7. Sponsor a Job – [2 min. to complete]
If you’ve purchased Job Slots with Glassdoor, managing your sponsored jobs is easy! Sponsoring a job is essentially advertising a job to ensure more of Glassdoor’s high quality candidates see your job postings when they search, set up job alerts and look at competitor profiles.
#8. Edit Salaries on Your Jobs – [5 min. to complete]
You can find a list of all your jobs in the “All Jobs” section of the Employer Center. For each role you can add/edit the salary estimate that job seekers will see. Simply click the pencil button beside the salary estimate for the role and a pop up will appear for you to edit the estimated salary for the role. Note: Salary editing is a feature only available for U.S. jobs currently.
If you don’t see all your jobs available, contact your Customer Success Manager.
#9. Post a Company Update – [10 min. to complete]
Get candidates excited to work for your company by sharing the latest on company milestones, news stories, product releases, community service, etc. When you post a company update anyone who follows your company will receive an email alert which can lead to an increase in traffic and applications. You can add photos to your post and promote it to specific local profiles if your update is only relevant in specific geographies.
#10. Review Your Analytics – [5 min. to complete]
Quickly spot trends in your data with the Analytics Overview. At-a-glance you can see key metrics and month-over-month changes such as Company Rating, CEO Approval, Page Views, Followers, Apply Starts and Clicks. This will help you understand what kind of job-seeker traction you’re getting, and how to pivot accordingly.
Favorite customer reports are Competitor Comparisons, Employer Profile Activity, Candidate Demographics and Jobs Performance by Title.
Part 2: Comprehensive Guide to the Glassdoor Employer Center
Now that you’ve mastered the basics with our Quick-Start Guide, let’s dive deeper into the features and functionality of the Employer Center.
Home: Your home-base in the Employer Center
There are six cards to explore, and each is a launching point for key actions. The sidebar is another way you can navigate between each card without having to return to Home.
Here’s how the Employer Center is organized:
To help you understand your performance, each card on the homepage displays a Key Metric so you have them at your fingertips. These are some of the most important metrics our customers look at regularly.
Jobs: View, edit and manage your open jobs on Glassdoor.
This is where Glassdoor pulls in all of your open jobs from your Applicant Tracking System. You can see how many total jobs you have and which jobs you’re sponsoring; you can also add/edit salaries for individual jobs. Use the filters or sorting to find a specific job.
Job Slots or Job Ads
If you have purchased a Job Advertising solution from Glassdoor, you may see a tab for “Job Slots” or “Job Ads.” For Job Slots, this is where you can select which roles should or should not be sponsored. To sponsor the job, simply find the job title you want to sponsor and click the toggle to green. To unsponsor, click it back to gray. It will take 2–6 hours to be reflected on the live site.
Candidates: Review applicants and track where they are in your hiring process.
EasyApply Jobs are hosted on Glassdoor where candidates can apply directly on Glassdoor without ever having to leave the site. For EasyApply Jobs, we help you manage your applicants so you stay organized and can quickly find where candidates are in your recruiting process. This feature allows you to:
- Rate candidates based on their qualifications
- Track candidates as they advance through each stage, from application review to hire
- Share notes on applications with members of your team
Employer Profile: Update your company information and story to show candidates why they should work for you.
Community Reviews: View, respond to and request reviews.
These are anonymous reviews that your employees, both current and former, write to give you feedback on their experiences with your company. In order to gather balanced and actionable feedback for employers, Glassdoor asks employees to include “pros,” “cons” and “advice to management” in their reviews. Your responses can mean more to potential candidates than the nature of the review. See Quick-Start Guide #4 to learn how to select the first review job seekers see when landing on your profile.
Best practices for responding to reviews:
These reviews are left by candidates who have completed an interview or phone screen with your company. Candidates have the option to review several components of the interview process including:
Analytics: Access and share analytics related to your reviews, candidates, profile visits and jobs.
Ratings by Location and Ratings by Job Title:
View and export your ratings by job location and job title. Note: these ratings are “All Time.”
Company Update Analytics:
Posting updates such as interesting initiatives or press pieces can help candidates get a sense of what your company’s been up to.
- In this section you can see how many total updates, impressions clicks and likes your updates get to learn what resonates with your audience so you can optimize future posts for engagement.
- Look at your data over time and by country.
Tools & Assets: Maximize your presence on Glassdoor with Badges and becoming an Open Company.
