A Step-by-Step Guide for Employers
How to Respond to Glassdoor Reviews

Reviews are an important piece of your candidate’s job search. In fact, 4 out of 5 candidates look to company reviews and ratings when making job decisions.1 Those reading reviews aren’t just skimming the surface. They read at least 7 reviews before forming an opinion about a company,2 making them some of the most well-prepared candidates on the market today. But what if your company’s reviews are less than glowing? Or, you want to give your opinion about something an employee has shared? The antidote for this problem is simple. Respond to your company’s reviews.
65% of job seekers that read reviews on Glassdoor say their perception of a company improves after seeing an employer respond to a review.3
To respond to reviews on your company’s profile, you must have a Free Employer Account or an Enhanced Company Profile on Glassdoor. With your Free Employer Account, you may provide an official employer response of 5,000 characters or less to any company review, interview review, or benefit review posted on your company profile.
There are three different locations where you can respond to reviews:
- Within your Employer Center
- On your main company profile
- Within your benefits tab for Benefit Reviews
Every response you submit to a Glassdoor review will include the date the response was posted along with your job title. To update the job title that will be shown on your response, go to your Account Settings. After updating your job title, sign out and back in for the change to take effect going forward. The member who submitted the original posting will receive an email notification that a response has been provided to their review. If you wish to edit or delete your response, you may do so by clicking the links next to your response.
Glassdoor moderates employer responses after they have posted to the website. Employer responses are moderated using Glassdoor's Community Guidelines and Terms of Use, with the exception that we do allow employers to include their contact information and relevant web links (i.e. links to internal company policies, ethics/compliance hotline sites, etc.).
When responding, we specifically ask employers to:
- Be courteous and professional.
- Do not include the name of the individual you believe wrote the review.
- Do not threaten the writer of the review with legal or other punitive damage.
Because Glassdoor moderates employer responses after they have been posted, if the response does not meet guidelines, it may be shown for a short time before we remove it. You will be notified by email if we remove your response.
