Position: Assistant Concept Designer

Reports to: Sr. Concept Designer

Responsibilities

Work closely with Sr. Concept Designer to compile seasonal conceptual design deck for design, production, merchandising and marketing teams; covering print, color, sustainability initiatives, key items and innovations to move product on.

Research and help to create on trend seasonal color palettes

Strong hand sketching / fashion illustration skills required for creating illustrations of key looks per season

Travel and shop the market identifying new trends for Madewell

Research and compile runway, trade show, and trend reports

Present as needed to deliver seasonal ideas and trends

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion or Art (or equivalent experience and education)
Keen eye for color, trend, detail and construction
Strong hand sketching / fashion illustration skills
Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop
Ability to act as liaison between many departments, excellent communication and analytic skills
Must be detail oriented, computer literate and to handle multiple tasks at once
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
